What is the point of even hiding your link that way and breaking a rule? You could just post a link to your auction in a sales thread, right? Seems silly to me that someone would employ trickery like that... and for what reason? Sorry for quoting the post before, I didn't realize they were two different links at first.

Someone was trying to be "cute" because they "disagree" with the established rules (because it doesn't serve their needs in the here and now), and have said so and thought that they could outsmart the system, and that no one would figure it out.
