The STEAMPUNK Luke saber
« on: August 24, 2009, 05:27:41 AM »
This project is still in the works but just a few days from completion 8)!
This is my Steampunk Luke lightsaber! It is an Anakin ROTS MR sanded down to the copper in some areas and sanded past the
chrome and copper in others. It has oil weathering mixed with a blow torch to make the different colors on the metal from heating it up. ;)
As far as the styles between the Anakin and he Luke ANH I mixed them. The two lightsabers are so different it would make impossible
for the one that Luke got to actually be Anakins. So I fixed that. Anakin hilt with a gold board with the bubble card over that. Glass eye with gold
reflecting underneath. Red/brown button. Now for the steam punk! The pins have been replaced with actual clock gears. The blade holder has been given a brass collar. The "rabbit ears" has been replaced with a brass piece with attached clock gears. The rubber grips have been replaced with
custom made brass grips. A little large but I like the feel for two handed.
The guts are in the works right now. It is an Anakin ROTS board with a p4 blue and a crystal chamber that will be visible through the grip holes.
The sound will be mounted above the batteries with a 2 inch chamber then out the grip holes as well I expect this to be rather loud! ;D
Please give me some good criticism on this. I will never get mad at someone who is giving honest feed back. If it is junk, say it but tell me why.
This can only make me better in the future! ;)
So, here it is. The Lightsaber Luke would have had if he was  Steampunk! It is still suppose to look like his original saber. It is not just a regular Steampunk saber. It's Luke's.

On with the pics!

Thanks for looking! God bless!

Wow.... I'm actually starting to feel it....

Some of these Steampunk creations popping are actually sort of cool...

Great job Amp.. Love the hybrid job you did of the Father/Son thing with Luke and Anakin's sabers....

Wow!...thats unique!   :o

Like Luke S said, I too never would have guessed it was originally an Anakin MR.  Excluding the fancy additional parts you have added, that's how I basically imagine Anakins lightsaber would look had he dropped it into the lava ha ha.

Awesome work Amptrooper!   ;)

:o :o :o That is amazing! The weathering is perfect, and I love the brass collar. The only criticism I have is that it's not mine. ;D

I was thinking about it. It is a toss up between this one and the Mandalorian Crystal saber.
I don't know.

I like it.

I like all the parts you 'changed' on it.

I wish you had changed more though...the rear part is great but imo the front part still is a bit too recognizably conventional-graflex for a steampunk saber...I'd suggest something other than a bubble strip, perhaps a brass plate with more clock gears attached , and maybe some kind of antiqued brass lamp knob or such in place of either the graflex button or glass eye, might help complete the Steampunk look.

But as is it still looks great...well done!
To DREAM the IMPOSSIBLE DREAM. To FIGHT the unbeatable foe. To BEAR with unbearable sorrow. To RUN where the brave dare not go. To RIGHT the unrightable wrong. To LOVE, PURE AND CHASTE, FROM AFAR [-sigh-]. To TRY, when your arms are too weary; to REACH the unreachable Star!... This is my Quest; To follow that Star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far...

I actually like that idea! That one just may happen. I do want to keep a lot of the Anakin/Luke look as it is not just a steampunk saber but a take on Lukes saber. Kinda, Luke as a steampunk, so to say.

As soon as I can sell I will.
