Favourite Lightsaber Orientation in a Stand
« on: December 12, 2013, 06:34:29 AM »
How do you display your Lightsabers in a Stand? Why do you do it like that?

Personally i have my Emitters left and Pommels right, because i'm right-handed and i can naturally grip the saber like that...  :vader:

What about you?

Although I'm right handed, my Emitter is right and Pommel is left.

I'm left handed, but I also display my sabers emitters left, pommels right, cuz then I can go right to reverse grip

I don't have any stands yet... I have a feeling I would do emitter left though because it would look more like I had intended to place it there.

Excellent topic... General rule of weapons storage and presentation is to orientate its placement in a manner where the user can  retrieve for immediate deployment.  This rule can be modified for traditional saber wielding or reverse grip for optimal attack  and defence.

Funny I just asked ck this the other day when looking at his wall of sabers.  I tend towards pommels on left and emitter on right but ill mix it up a bit.

I prefer pommels left, emitters right...never really thought of a reason...maybe that's what I'm used to from the MHS builder?
To DREAM the IMPOSSIBLE DREAM. To FIGHT the unbeatable foe. To BEAR with unbearable sorrow. To RUN where the brave dare not go. To RIGHT the unrightable wrong. To LOVE, PURE AND CHASTE, FROM AFAR [-sigh-]. To TRY, when your arms are too weary; to REACH the unreachable Star!... This is my Quest; To follow that Star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far...

I do Emitters to the right, for the sole reason that my ROTJ saber correctly has the fancy lights on the control box facing the right side, so it looks much better to display it that way. Then all my sabers go that way since I have a 4 saber stand, and it looks terrible to have some facing a different direction (I tried). Before my Luke saber I did emitter to the left.

for me, it's all about the individual saber.  I know my MKVI hero is pommel left to emitter right, but that's because of the control box (as mentioned by naigon).  I don't like all of them facing the same way though.  seems too unbalanced to me.  Especially if you have a tpm set, pointing both the obi and qui in the same direction seems off somehow.  Sometimes I do them right to left because it balances out the collection more, sometimes I just do it that way because it looks better going that direction.  See for yourself ;)

And for those who are gonna count, the starkiller counts as a left to right saber.   :D

if horizontal then emmiter left as a general rule, but rules are made to be broken...

I have to say something,  I go from pommel left to emitter right.  Don't know why?   but when I make one I try to switch it up.  The funny thing about a stand is that they are harder to achieve what you want than one would think.     so many hilts have so many different greeblies, or steps  in OD  that vary with  each hilt.  SO it is hard to make a stand that is universal..   there are so many ways to skin a cat as it were?

it's almost like each stand needs to be tailor made for what it is holding.    I ask myself constantly why I chose to make these things???  AHHH
It is actually harder to have someone be satisfied with what they are getting and that plagues my mind constantly..  I do worry about it when someone gets one from me and unboxes it and tries their sabers  out on it and says  DANG It..      Questions like should one cradle be shorter or taller than another, or  what length between the cradles is gonna work to hold this thing level.  I do my best to work with people on rod length, and try my best to communicate to the end result as possible.     it is kind of a nightmare when you think about it.    I know this is probably not something you would expect to hear from me in this thread but needs addressing..   I am not the smartest guy in the world, and saying this could potentially not be good for me, but it's the truth..     LB  I don;t even know how to vote on this???
