Here is a hilt given to us by Eastern57, he had a lot of projects goin on and couldn't commit to this one as well.
The hilt is of unknown origin, very thick aluminum and uses set screws to hold the pommel, heatsink and blade holder in place.
It arrived in plain silver and a few touches of grey lacquer based paint, which we removed.
We powder coated in Trans gold and mirror black. Since the pommel is so thick, we opted to use it as the recharge port holder. The sound holes are in the middle of the hilt and the speaker is just below them, facing upwards.
The results are not that impressive, not as loud as we were hoping.
This is using a SaberSound V1.0.
The volume issue DOES stem from the fact that the hilt is thick and the soundholes are scattered, not from the board.
The battery pack is a 7.4v trustfire system with in hilt recharge port and kill key feature.
The LED is a
5W LEDengin Red.
VERY BRIGHT!This hilt, since it had so many screws in it gave us a chance to do something that Erv has described.
Screwing THROUGH a screw to allow light from the LED to shine through, we used a 8/32 button head screws and drilled out the middle using a VERY SMALL drill bit. This feature is pretty cool and we'll prolly be using it more later one.
Best part, ....since the drill was so small, ...and the screws were stainless steel, ...they are still perfectly functional screws.
Nice huh! 8) 8)
Thanks Erv!
We'll no doubt put it up for sale later on.
So, ....meh, here it is:
The little red Lights near the emitter are not accent LEDs, they are 8/32" button head screws that have been drilled out hollow!
