2005 Luke Skywalker ROTJ 2005 LED edition.
« on: October 05, 2005, 07:45:13 AM »
Ok it occurred to me that in the excitement of finally getting this saber and posting alot of pics, I didnt post a review,I will make this brief but give an insight into one of the much anticipated sabers of the year.

" I see you have constructed a new lightsaber"  Vader ROTJ.

One of the most memorable scenes in ROTJ s Luke faces his now known father hoping to bring him to the good side of the force.  The hilt is bigger than the movie prop but it has its qualities.  First its polished aluminum not that crhome on the Anakin ROTS making leaving finger prints almost impossible.  Handling the saber is simple and easy alot of twirls and twist can accomplished by holding the upper prt of the saber above the power switch, its a nice grip and you wont have to worry about turning it off by accident.  Also the hilt is as exact as it can be given the electronics and also taking 6 batteries makes it large but a nice homage to the new Jedo warrior.

Now to the blade.  I have to say that this rivals the Anakin ROTS for brightness.  Its a nice green color some of the LED's can be seen as with the Vader saber but the right batteries make them almost disappear.  I was hoping for a deeper green like in the movie but still its a great color and lightnes up any room in even on a cloudy day.

The sounds are very loud and deep, the idle hum is a very rich and bassy sound in my opinion.  The 4 clash sounds are activated easliy bu just tapping the saber with your hand.  The power up and power down are just like the Anakin ROTS but I was hoping for that very animal like power up in ROTJ.  In the case of who is louder I would say its a tie between the ROTS and ROTJ.  The movement sensors activate easily as well as there are I think four as in the ROTS saber.

The saber box is the new verison featured with the Vader and Anakin sabers, although no card comes with the saber boohoo it does come with the nice stand we all have come accustomed to seeing, it does hang nice on the wall with the right screws for placement.  Yes the saber comes with 6 batteries as I said before but there is no dark spot only a faint line that runs up the saber which might be from the batteries, so I will change them out to see any difference.

Finally.  I have to say that son rivals father in the Fx saber wars, all the sounds appear to me have been moved into the ROTJ saber from the Anakin the idle hum is louder than the Vader ESB.  I think moving Gen 3 electronics to this saber was a bold yet successfull move.  Overall I am very pleased with my new toy having never halded the original saber I must say that this new and lteset model blows it out of the water.  It makes you want to watch ROTJ which I am doing after I post this review, as always I am available for any questions you might have, just email or PM me, I will respond to all.

Question: Are the sounds EXACTLY like the Anakin ROTS? (i.e. powerup/down, idle hum, swings and clashes).

Also... CONGRATULATIONS!

Hey darthirishman you are going to go down in history as the first reviewer of the updated ROTJ Luke. I'm proud that it was one of our very own members who did it.

I give it a 9/10 the only cause the hilt is bigger but it is nice to handle

Good review.
I saw pictures of the Luke ROTJ and the blade looks much brighter than the Anakin.
When you compared them, where both lightsabers have new and the same batteries.

The Anakin batteries are about 2 weeks old the Luke ROTJ had fresh batteries, I use Duracell Ultra for digital devices

My hand is very sore today because of the handle. I got my ROTJ saber last night and was outside twirling and dueling with it for about 15mins. Now my hand has some slices on it because of the hilt on this saber. The ridges are very sharp. I highly suggest using gloves when using this saber! I actually got blood on it from one cut that is kind of deep.

Something to watch out for I suppose

Even though my hand is cut up it won't stop me from using this BEAUTIFUL saber tonight! Either the edges will become dull from more use or I will lose alot more skin and blood  :D.
