Split Vader with crystal chamber
« on: February 14, 2013, 07:11:33 PM »
Yet another saber I finished last week and actually took time to take pics and do a video.

This is a Vader for Enaswede that opens like a graflex and has a crystal chassis.

I cut the saber in half, tested the fit to make sure it was sturdy when put back together and sent it off to enaswede so he could have the chassis made (gabywan) and have the saber re-chromed so there would be no brass edges where it was cut.

Specs
MPP
CF5.10
Gabywan crystal chamber
TriRebel RRW
RR in series set at 1A
W for FoC with resistor for 1A
custom blade plug using existing MPP part
custom cut grips by enaswede (wanted him involved in the build...OR I didn't want to cut the back part myself LOL)
menu and boot sounds were made by enaswede

on with the pics.

Click thumbnails for larger images.

Here is a video (excuse my voice I had a cold when I did the video)

That's awesome! Vader definitely deserved a chamber like that.

awesome vader this is also how i visioned a vader reveal to be like
great job, just nitpicking here but the brass chassis by gabbywan would have stood out much better
than the silver and would have been a nice contrast, just my opinnion

still awesome though  8)

Fantastic job, MH!!!

I love you well Gaby's chassis works for this hilt. Coming from the club of OT hilts... why wouldn't the construction of the saber be similar to the Graflex one that Luke has?

Loving how that turned out.... what a beautiful saber... :)

Thanks all

what did you use for a blade holder? Did you machine one?
I used the internal piece of the MPP and glued it onto a piece of blade stock.  Nothing to it.

Wow I can't believe someone has not done a Vader reveal until now.  Beautiful work MH well executed

As Nartules said Slothfurnace did an awesome spring loaded Vader but there was also another split vader done with a similar chassis as this one.  I cant remember the link to the pic but it wasn't a member here and I dont know if it had a sound board in it or not.

awesome vader this is also how i visioned a vader reveal to be like
great job, just nitpicking here but the brass chassis by gabbywan would have stood out much better

That would be a personal choice.  Enaswede chose silver.  That is if Gaby gave him a choice (I wasn't involved at all in the chassis part)

Fantastic job, MH!!!

I love you well Gaby's chassis works for this hilt. Coming from the club of OT hilts... why wouldn't the construction of the saber be similar to the Graflex one that Luke has?

Loving how that turned out.... what a beautiful saber... :)
Well this is not the graflex chassis but a different one that gaby built around this particular saber.

MH, scott meant the 1" blade socket, not the blade plug.  I was curious about that as well.
