Title: Brassflex™. A CF lightsaber
Post by: JANGO FETT on August 02, 2009, 07:23:58 PM
This started months ago, when Tim started carrying the brass Graflex bodies. I've been slowly acquiring parts and planning this build. It was finished late last night.
The Brass body was provided by TCSS
The clamp, bunny ears and pins are all vintage.
The rest of the exterior pars were provided by TFX studios
The chassis is a 1st generation CF chassis built by Yoda. I had to completely take it apart and rebuild it to get the features and fit I wanted. The pommel in the body provided by TCSS is thicker than a standard Graflex.

Specs
CF is a 4.2
Cyan Lux V bin 2
2 14500 trustfires
Real quartz crystall
3 accent Led  Blue, Green and Teal
TCSS speaker
1.3mm recharge port

Soundfonts
Novastar
Blackstar
Ancient
Madcow's Luke Hero
Zen

Definatly one of the best (if not THE best) graflex I have ever seen.

Certainly worthy of the awesomness that is a Crystal Focus 4.2!

Nice steam-punk brassy looking graphlex, Jango. Very well detailed I must say and the CF puts it over the top. Well done my friend :)

Lookin' off the hook there, Jango!

In a way, kinda reminds me of Judge's Brass Bas***d saber. Is it that heavy?

The grips give it a little back end weight, but not really.

Incredibly innovative, Jango! This has to be the most distinctive Graflex style hilt out there! I love the tarnished Brass . A totally unique spin to a well recognized design!

Wow!! ;D
They do look great together! Thanks for the complements everyone!
That was a good idea polishing up the hilt Jango, I guess I should have controlled myself on the polishing but I love the blingy and they should weather nicely together now.  ;)
I cant believe one of my BlingStrips gets to see a crystal focus board and chassis before me but it has earned it and fits the saber very well!
Thanks for the pics and updated video Jango!!

Wow... great job Jango/Hon Rev...

Jango... that is such a sweet looking saber... love the brass and the crystal chassis...

HonRev... speechless.

Ok.... maybe a few words... that BlingStrip works so well with this saber...and I like how light can still be projected through the slits.... a good compliment... EVERYONE should get an HonRev BlingStrip (how's that for free promotion :P)

I love this saber, well done sir.

I have to say...I like the shiny, untarnished look better on this one. I usually prefer weathered..but this one really pulls off the shiny with the brass.

I'm not sure yet. I have one DIY chassis coming in the first round release. It's going in my vintage ESB.

I may try making my own with what I learn completing the first round DIY

I have a shiny brass Graflex ANH...or 'Golden Graflex' as I call it...from King-of-Parts...it's a terrific elegant look how the shiny brass body contrasts with the silver clamp and accents and imo the most beautiful saber I own...I'm absolutely certain you will like it when you build yours Jango.

Someday I'd like to get a DIY crystal chassis too and [if I'm ever lucky enough] CF for it...its another saber that deserves 'theme music' lol.

Post by: JANGO FETT on November 05, 2009, 07:49:23 PM
Instead of going for a DIY chassis and the CF separately, why not contact Yoda for a completed chassis and CF ready to "slide in"

It may cost more, but you would be sure to get one.

Master Yoda's work is amazingly magnificent but I'm poor and its just out of my league to put up that much money all at one time...I can only afford to build sabers part-by-part...but if I ever win the lottery...

I see there is a shiny Brassflex 2 in the works. I actually got a shiny brass one from King of Parts right after you first posted this one.

I was thinking that painting all the accessories (clamp, ears, button, etc.) black and putting a red LED in would look pretty nice I just haven't had time to really work on it. I'll be keeping an eye out for Brassflex 2.

The cyan LED is a perfect match for this saber. Along with the brass color and weathering, it makes the saber look old. ;)
Very Very nice! :)

All of those parts are plated and spray paint may not work very well in the long run.
I am having a hard time picking a color for brassflex 2
I am leaning towards green or maybe going all out with a 10W Amber.

That's what I was going for. I polish it nice and shiny once a month with some brasso just to keep it clean.

I know. If I want to make them black I need to take the plating off and I really don't want to. Not to mention it might be nearly impossible on something like the red button with the grooved edges and all. It will most likely stay probably stay brass and silver.
