Print Page - Gemini and SaberConcepts Presents: A new Imperial Royal Guard Saber Pike

Rave contacted us a few months ago about building a saber pike for him. We were thrilled to make another one. The last one we did, we worked with Do-Clo to create a really nice Pike.
We wanted this to be a collaboration as well and went through the list of Sabersmith's we hadn't worked with yet. Rhyen Skytracker of Saber Concepts seemed like a good fit, and after talking to him, ...he seemed up to the task. And he did not disappoint! My favorite part is that emitter, .....it's really cool. I might have to get Rhyen to make a few more of those.

We want this partially MHS compatible and needed to be able to break down into small pieces, ..to powdercoat and to be able to ship overseas.
The pieces were done by Rhyen and we used an MHS main body as the center of the saber.

The hilt uses a MR soundboard and the main LED is a red Bin II LUX III. The entire Pike and saber are powder coated in gloss black.

The hilt seperates from the pike so Raze can use it as a typical lightsaber. The Pike section is hollow and allows him to place his blade in it for easier storage.

The pommel/Pike end is a modified Darth Maul pommel.

Beautiful work! The storage feature is nice. I do think a red ring AV switch would have gone well, and still a nice unified look.

And on an unrelated note, I prefer the spirit/force wookie more than the impaled sig.

An illuminated switch, ...while a cool feature, .....will stray too far from the accuracy standpoint of these. It's the same reason we didn't put one in on the last pike as well.
Not a whole a lot of pictures exist of a pike, ...but the ones that do, ...have no blinkies or illumination whatsoever beside the blade.

Rave can correct me if I wrong, ...but I believe he is part of a costuming group, and Im not sure how strict they are about accuracy.

Nice guys, really spectacular. If rave is in a costume group, I'm sure that this pike will suit his needs very well, looks just like something a gaurd would use.

It's Mirror Black from Eastwood. Though Powder buy the Pound has it too... and they're about the same in quality (but PBTP is a little less expensive).

As soon as i have all finished, i will post some images of the final costume ^^ and it has to be long, because i'm 1,86 m high, a shorter one would seem like a "bigger lightsaber" ;)

I really enjoyed working on this project. It was nice to make something different. It was also great to work with Gemini Concepts and I look forward to working on future projects together.

While not the representative weapon of the original Royal Guards in the SW Universe, the lightsaber staff wielded by them in TFU were very cool. ^\^ The perfect companion to a TFU Royal Guard costume, well done Darth Vader! :D
