My new CF 3.0 MHS
« on: January 08, 2008, 03:12:20 PM »
Well here it is,  pretty much done. just maybe a few cosmetic changes.
Running a 3.0 CF, 7.2 rechargeble, recharge port, lux III royal blue (messed up my lux V cyan) :(   I used the stock luke switch and added a mini momentary switch.  This sucker is lound! And I thought my other mhs was loud. gonna have to fix that (maybe a CF 2.6 for it)  ;D
I take crappy pics but here they are.

that's stingray skin in the grip area, and the luke pommel, still can't decide on the tri ring or covertec.

found these at radioshack. came with a black and red one. they fit into the luke box if I bent the pins. plenty of room when I got it in there.

Vortex, Be EXTREMELY careful with those 'Shack mini momentaries... Those are the ones responsibile for killing my CF 2.63!  Not all of them are that way, but the contacts on those switches go bad easily.

Just a heads up... :)

APEM, Grayhill, Omron,

I'm not sure where RS gets theirs, but it may be from one of those suppliers anyway.

I just don't trust radio shack switches anymore after the bad contact zapped the programming on my CF.

It may work fine for you, as RS switches are really hit or miss. If it's working for you then you're probably okay with that one.

It's just the lockup button right?

awesome look!

Love the grips!   So was the stingray a Giant Stingray that you killed on Calamari during one of your first Padawan missions?  ;)

May The Force FX Be With You!

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure if I wanted to tackle the CF but I just couldn't wait any longer. lol I'm glad I did, Makes it all that more sweeter. :)
I wish that's how I got the skin. lol. it was only like 50 buck with shipping and it was like 8"x13"

ya i'll work on a vid this week. I want to switch out some sounds as I don't like the kung fu or chain saw that much, they are neat but nothing I would use exclusively.

So how was working with the CF?  I have mine shipping right now from Judge.  I am a little nervous about loading files and using the card reader.  Heck I don't even know where to get a card reader yet.

I really only want to load Judge's ROTJ file make a blank file like Joclad did then set teh other parameters like flicker and forget it.  I will never get in there and mess with it after the first time.

Wiring doesn;t bother me just setting the config and loading it.

I'm not too confident on changing the files yet but I have been doin some messing around with them, I put in judges rotj one but It just isn't my style. I love the ancient saber font but I want to slow the pulse to match the hum. only thing about it is I have to figure out how to changet the menu description. I put it in the spot that had kung fu, even though I change the fonts it still says its kung fu but plays rotj one. You just have to format the card everytime you change the fonts.

VT - the titles to the menus are the files one, two... ...six that you see when you open the SD on your computer (rather than in the actual "bank" folders). You just need to replace the one that corresponds with the kung fu font (can't remember which number it is) with a different .RAW file which you give the same name.

I didn't get round to doing my own sounds for this, I just copied and renamed the ignition sound from the font/bank it corresponded with as that was recognizable to me.

There's a good freeware audio editor that handles RAW audio files - I can't remember what it's called, but I've seen it mentioned on TCSS forums and I think here too. I'll post if I remember it or come across it, or perhaps someone else can chime in?

Hope that helps, anyway.

All you have to do is rename the file header as sethski described.

TK you can get sd card readers at radio shack for like $10.  OR if you have  a printer with the card readers you can use that.

I actually bought an all in one card reader from Newegg and installed it in my PC tower.

Or you can just buy the external and portable ones here:

Portable: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820223088

That freeware sound editor is called Audacity. ;) http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
