nice work.    by happy coincidence I just noticed these for $200 at starworld, while shopping for something else.

for those who want to try this at home..  (or if MH wants to do this again sometime)  ..a converted LE would fetch a LOT more than the initial investment.  ;)

Sorry for my absence from my thread...busy weekend.

First of all Thank you everyone for the compliments...I really appreciate it.

Sandpeople are people too---Yeah the silver recharge port always bugs me on black sabers.  You cant powder coat them because the plastic would melt.  I have in the past painted the outer edge black to match but I dont have any flat black right now so I just left it until later.

nartules---Thanks.  You are supposed to use a resistor on the power extender circuit but I like to overdrive the RB LEDs because it gives it a whiter look when it combines with the green.  It still like you said has a little color in it but is not pure purple.

s Rank---run time and voltage requirements.  Voltage is constant in parallel and current is constant in series.  The problem is the GG together take a good bit of voltage to run them properly and even though the CF is a current driver it still needs the voltage to put out the correct current.  In my experience it is difficult to get enough voltage to a series GG.  With it in parallel you have the voltage and you can up the CF5 to 2A (so each dice gets 1A).  I haven't done a side by side comparison but I believe it is brighter in parallel.

enaswede---you know me man.  If you want it say the word.

WEDGE ANTILLES---thanks for the link.  I actually bought another one this morning.  I was looking on Ebay the other day because I was considering doing another one and selling it but the ones I found the other day were more expensive than that.

Again thanks for the comments everyone.

I just cannot get over this MH! That thing is amazing. I just bought a QG LE from eBay for $189. Gets me thinking since I am seeing this is possible ;)

Excellent modifications! That thing is gorgeous. I see what you mean on the recharge port, but it is not bad. It can always be done at a later time. I need to wipe clean up the drool off my computer now. Thanks. :D

MH... that ROCKS!!!

The electronics looks so clean, too.

Nothing beats a QG deep grooved hilt!!!

Correct me please... but the MR LE, and the Larbels have the more accurate deep grooves, or do the Korbanth one's have that too?

Knowing that this is an LE piece... this is closer to the movie version... so with the CF in this too....this thing is AMAZING!!!

Great job...a master in so many ways..... :)

Yeah the Larbels and LEs have the deep accurate grooves (go all the way down and are flat at the bottom).  The Korbanth has a deep groove as well but they have a tube running through them so they aren't that deep (nor flat).

The Larbel would be the better conversion to have since it is one piece and much lighter than the LE...especially if you wanted to duel or carry it on your belt.  That being said I love the LE conversion as well for what little I do with a saber plus getting a larbel isn't that easy.

Now I kick myself for not keeping my Larbels...I was told it couldn't be done. ...So I sold them both. :'(

Then LDM does the Obi-Wan and you do the Qui-Gon. Not fair.

Awesome, awesome work. That's all that can be said. 8)

Well this isn't a Larbel.  Jango as well as others have done the Larbel Quis though.

I know. But what I meant is that you were able to bore out a solid piece of metal and have electronics installed. The LE is similar to the Larbel in this regard. In fact, at the time I bought my Larbel, I was also considering picking up an MR LE (like this one) in hopes that it could be converted. I asked around here and was told it couldn't be done. :-\

It's nice to see the "impossible" made possible. 8)
