Magnetic USB Charge Port
« on: January 12, 2020, 08:04:46 AM »
I have a Pach Store Starkiller Lightsaber with a T39 Kaiburr IV soundboard .  The soundboard quit working properly, and it saber has a really nice magnetic USB charging system that I would like to retain with the new soundboard that I am using.
It only has a positive and negative wire, where a standard charge port has three legs.
How should this be wired?  I have an older Prizm soundboard that does not go into sleep mode that I was going to use, so it has to have the ability for a charge port/kill key.
Is anybody familiar with this set up that could help me out?

There isn't really a good simple way to do a kill key and charging with two wires.  Somehow you need the circuit to remove the electronics when power is applied during charging, and somehow you need to cut power to the board without applying power.  You might be able to trickle some power through the port to check for it, then cut the power if it exceeds a threshold while charging, but that would require something more advanced than I've seen around here.
