'Star Wars Room'
« on: January 04, 2016, 09:24:45 PM »
setting up my 'star wars room'.

a bit of a challenge, to decide whats worth displaying and what's not.

I ended up focusing on the 1:1 scale MR and EFX props.

(no room for mini-helmets or mini-sabers; no room for action figures or hasbro toys).

(gave these all to my daughter -- "star wars is for girls", afterall)

^ spent some time on that last shot of Vader -- composed by hand, no cropping nor photoshop -- I'm quite proud of this shot.
(the 4 'life sized' photos on the shelf were taken at one of the LFL exhibits -- no photoshops here either)

^^ costumes are my own creations.  I've worn them in public.  Anakin is sporting "Museum Replicas" boots & belt; the rest is home made.
obi-wan has a belt from Claudio @ customprops + resin bits from a guy in the RL; the rest is home made. (including boot spats).

My jaw dropped! That is a super cool room!! So many stuff to just awe at! I have a Star Wars room as well but it consists more of vintage collectibles, a lightsaber, authentic poster, and cut out among other things. Really impressive room though, especially since they are home-made.

side note-- If you're ever thinking about selling any of your stuff just message me :) well done!

yes I did.  the pattern looks something like this:
http://imageshack.com/a/img845/8121/02x7.png
(diagram is not drawn to scale).

the measurements shown in purple will result in a men's size 'large' tunic. (roughly size 44)
you'll need to adjust the numbers to fit your own frame -- the original purpose of this diagram was just to show how the pieces fit together -- again: this is NOT drawn to scale.

(also: the 'rear skirt' and 'elastic waistband' are optional features -- most people don't bother with this part -- http://imageshack.com/a/img198/393/5hgj.jpg )

enjoy.

for the tabbards:

I don't have a pattern sketch, but you can extrapolate one from these pics:

cheers!

Nice! Did you source the fabric locally? Or is there a place online that still has it?

I got my fabric locally.  the anakin is garden-variety "crinkle cotton", this can be found anywhere.

the obi-wan was found in a bargain bin with no tags -- I have no idea what it is -- but it looks like this:
http://imageshack.com/a/img138/6845/d4dm.png
http://imageshack.com/a/img841/3100/5mgf.jpg
http://imageshack.com/a/img537/46/mBSeDj.jpg
^^ (if you take these pics to your local fabric store, they might help you identify it).

-===-

the closest I can find online , is something like this:
Handwoven Natural Fabric
(must be washed first, to give the obi-wan texture)

and this:  (same thing, but in a heavy-weight version)
Handspun Handwoven Natural Fabric

Quote

This heavyweight handspun natural colored fabric is just like our hot selling HNF handwoven fabric - but heavier. This one has a heavy coarse weave that has some slubs throughout the weave. After washing, this fabrication becomes very textured and crinkled. It will no longer have a flat weave surface after washing. This makes it great for those Star Wars costumers (we're thinking Obi Wan Kenobi or Yoda coats) and for anyone wanting a natural rustic looking fabric. Great for theater costumes or rustic home decor projects.

^^ on Rebel Legion they say this IS the screen-used fabric -- but I can't confirm this.
