I wish they had more pictures from different angles. I can barely see the curve of the dooku lightsaber. At least this is visible proof that hasbro is making new sabers.

Ah I stand corrected, the sabers do look better than how I thought they would look. I might have to pick up the dooku.

Did anyone notice the large, I mean very large infantry rifle above it?! it's huge! Can you say "New prop!"? :D
Now that i look closer, the Obi is a little thick, but hey, it looks alright. The dooku has a really nice look. It's almost screaming red P4! ;) :)

I'm not sure about the Obi-Wan, but looking at the Dooku, I can just about guarantee you that the Dooku is using AAA batteries.

Judging by where the yellow sticker is and the crease in the hilt, ...it looks as though the Dooku hilt will separate above the pommel for battery changing.

The Average Joe may prefer the Dooku, being a unique shape and kids more familiar with it because of the Clone Wars Cartoon Series, but I am willing Saber Smiths may find the Obi-Wan easier to work with at first.

I'm so buying those once they're available!!! I'm glad they were able to curve the Dooku hilt right and the Obi-Wan doesn't look too bad either. Now all they need to do is Qui-Gon's and an accurate sized Anakin AOTC.
Edit: I wish there were better photos of the Obi-Wan TPM.

To be honest, they were posted by another member in the Hasbro Rumor thread, but after 10 minutes, no one was bothering to make a thread, so I got impatient, LOL! ;D
I can't even begin to afford one of Yoda's Negotiator's, so the FX version is my only immediate hope of getting a hilt like that anytime soon. Needless to say, it's gonna get a Blue P4 LED shoved in it quicker than you can say "I lost my saber at Genosis!" :D

Both of them look great! Can't wait to add them to my collection. I keep losing auctions on EBay for the Dooku LE Hilt so I guess the only way I'm ever going to own one is to get an FX Version...looking forward to it :)

It will be a while before conversions are offered. First, he has to get some in and take them apart to determine what will need to be done to convert them.
After a while, you'll probably also see aluminum blade holders for it.
Yeah Vosk, it would be nice, but I'm not going to hold my breath on being the first one. :P But that won't stop me from trying! ;D

I have to say I'm impressed with the Dooku at first glance - but I'll reserve final judgment for when I know how it feels, a Dooku should feel elegant.
The Obi is good too but not as much as the Dooku.

Meh... they both are extremely thick but Hasbro could have done far worse.

The MR Dooku LE which is to scale is not large enough to house all the electronics or a 1" blade. They would need to scale it up to make it a working saber. They would also need to move the position of the claw since the real one extended into the blade.
IMO this is the most accurate Dooku you can make with sound and EFX.

The Obi TPM doesn't look horrible size-wise, but the Dooku... they certainly could have gone smaller.
I know how to fit blades in saber and they could have gone smaller. Look at the emitter, it looks to be pushing 2" in diameter. The LE was hardly over 1 1/4" in the main body. They've obviously picked the compromise to ease manufacturing by reusing parts. I bet the size was dictated by them wanting to reuse the 3AA packs from the other sabers.
I honestly didn't expect more so it's not a disappointment. Not really a detraction, but it would be a nice surprise to see them pick a nicer slim look over being able to make them easiest.

I don't know, xwingband, from what I can see it appears that the Dooku is using a 3AAA pack rather than 3 AA's.
I'm judging that by the diameter of the last section of the hilt compared the the blade thickness in the last Dooku pic and it looks too small to fit a 3 AA pack in there.
I guess we'll all know for sure when they come out. :P

After spending most of the day trying to install Vista (and failing) and working on sabers, this was a pleasant surprise.
I'll pass on the Obi-wan and pick up the Dooku.
DT may get the first review out, because I'll be busy taking it apart! ;D

Well thats true isn't it....though its virtually the same as the AOTC version which Count Dooku took away from Obi-wan....hmm maybe DT should have to do them both because of that ;)
I'm definitely picking up at least one of each...maybe two of the Obi's (I mean I have acerocket's, a parks...add a hasbro and well thats an uneven number!! Hmmm unless I get a negotiator :D). Might keep one stock and most certainly go with a conversion on the other as soon as parts are available.

I only see one glaring error on the Obi-Wan. It is lacking the small step down, and step up right before the emitter section. Still, both are heading into my collection.

After looking at that new picture of the Obi-Wan TPM I agree the only error I see is the "neck" part but I'm sure that can't be helped. I wonder if it's using the AAA batteries. Either way I'm still getting one a long with the Dooku.
Edit: I can't stop staring at the picture of the Obi-Wan...I can't believe we're finally gonna have that FX saber. It does look pretty good. I wonder if this is the same design that Yoda saw at that one MR party or if it's completely different.
Double edit: I wonder if the red button on the Obi-Wan will be the activator button. I wonder too which will activate the Dooku saber.

One thing I've observed about the Obi-Wan and the Dooku is they are nice for weilding. No clumsy boxes or sharp ridges. The Maul isn't bad, but it does wear the skin a little if utilizing for a while. The Qui-Gon maybe possible if the Obi-Wan does well. As for Dooku, perhaps sound? :D Most likely not.... ;D

Will definitely scoop up the Dooku and Obi TPM, but I'll still be getting Master Yoda's Negotiator, more for aesthetic and display purposes. I guess I can do some Gorilla Dueling with the Obi Hasbro FX once it's converted and with an aluminum blade holder ;D

I thought I'd be able to afford Yoda's Negotiator but it seems I won't be able to for a long while so the Hasbro will be good enough for me.
Edit: It looks like too they got the pommel correct for the Obi-Wan saber which is a plus in my books.

Same here! I'd LOVE an Obi-TPM, but I can't afford a Negotiator at all.
So I'll opt for the "poor" man's Obi TPM! Seriously, for an FX saber, this doesn't look bad at all. Sure, it's a little fat, but who wasn't expecting it to be a little fat considering the previous FX hilts.
That hilt is going to look GREAT with Obeisance.

I'll say what I said before: a little too thick for my tastes. But at least new sabers are on the market.
I'll probably get a Dooku because I've yet to see a comparable custom.

Between Ultra's commercial hitting the masses, and Hasbro thinking that the FX line is good enough to invest in new models, (and of course, all of our interest), I think these babies will enjoy a large demand...

I was concerned at first about the thickness of these sabers, but then I thought size is relative. Compared to the other Fx's these probably won't be that bad. I'm going to go broke buying all these sabers!
Snake-Eyes you are correct about the activator on the Dooku, it is in fact the trigger button. This is according the visual dictionary, which also says that the gold button on the top shortens the blade for suprise attacks. That would be cool, but I doubt Hasbro did it.

Since these are all-new sabers, I actually wouldn't be surprised if these have new sound boards. You never know.

I'm sure they'll just reuse the recyled sounds which will sorta suck. For Dooku's they should use the distinct sounds they used in AOTC.

Hmm interesting. So the fact that the Obi-Wan isn't fat or big is a plus. I guess we'll know more once a member here does a complete review. Of course once it goes up for sale I'm preordering one right away.

I can't think of anyone I'd love to see holding that Dooku more than our very own Darth Tyranus for reasons too obvious to list!
It just don't seem right though for him to buy his namesake saber on his own after all he's done and been through for the community...

Darth maul/yoda sized battery pack sound baord etc... etc...
However it seems like they made both of them much larger in diameter than they need to be and are along the size lines
of the Luke ROTJ but it is understandable considering their price point for the force fx line.

I'm a little late to this party! ;D I am very happy to see that Hasbro is moving forward with new sabers. I honestly didn't expect to see anything new for another year. I'm pleasently proved wrong. Based on the size f the FX stand that wee all have I like what I see as far as the size goes. Yeah, a little bit big, but not bad. I am really impressed by the Obi TPM. That is definetl going on my "to buy" list. Once Ultra gets a conversion kit out it will be even better. It will be interesting to know if they will be released together or released one at a time over the next year.
I thought I had read that new sabers would be first followed by improved electronics at a latter date based on market sales of the new models? Could be wrong.....
Studying the pics, I have to say Hasbro did a fine job on the Obi pommel as well.

The size comparison between the Dooku LE vs FX over at RS was a nice touch. It really isn't that oversized at all. Sure the angles of the bends aren't perfect but they look pretty good so far. Can't wait to pick these up. Although...given how very "late" the last batch of Hasbro sabers got out last year, I wonder if we'll actually see these available before fall 09.

I think the Hasbro one looks shinier than the LE version and to me looks better overall even though it isn't accurate. It will be fun to own one of these as this is the most interesting looking of the sabers in the movies.. Yoda, please pm me with a price on the negotiator you are making, I am interested.

The thing is.....These 2 sabers really do look good no mater how much bigger they might be.....I mean... if you can live with the baseball bat size of the Mace Windu....or the rolling pin sized Anakin AOTC....or the fact that the Luke ROTJ...and the Obi ROTS look nothing like the real versions of their on screen counterparts.. to the point that I can't even stand to look at them.... I'd say Hasbro has done a pretty good job getting these sabers to at least look like the real ones.....

Man I want both sabers right now! Hopefully it won't be too long until these suckers are available. I'm definitely buying both.
Edit: In regards to them being thicker....guys ALL the FX sabers will be a bit thicker and bigger than their LE counter parts no matter what because of the electronics. You got to remember that. I can live with the size of the sabers. Regarding that comparison photo...it still is hard to tell even with just that. We'd need to see both the LE and FX side by side physically.
Double Edit: If Hasbro ever does a Obi-Wan AOTC FX saber it wouldn't be too hard for them to do it. :) If they can do an Obi-Wan TPM surely they can do Qui-Gon's. Hopefully we'll see every major character's saber from the films and even some council member sabers.

It's probably the ROTS. All though they really didn't change appearance from movie to movie so it's essentially the same saber.

not bad so far but im not really impressed i was unsure if i would get the obi wan phantom mence or not but now im pretty sure and im not a fencer type person so i gurantee i wouldnt want to get the dooku. Still it is nice to see hasbro brining out new sabers what i am curius about is if they will dig into the expanded universe :)

That comparison with the LE looks pretty favourable to my eye - I expect I'll get the Dooku, maybe the Obi-wan as well, but I prefer the look of the Dooku, in that although it may be a bit oversized, it keeps the proportions pretty well, whereas the Obi looks noticeably fatter and less shaped. I agree that the pommel's good, tho - it looks like they've done an OK job overall.
Re the Obi, I'm everso curious to know how it compares to the allegedly very oversized MR prototype, as no pictures of that ever cropped up on the interweb (as far as I'm aware).

As I said before, if you look at the Visual Dictionary (which I know is by no means cannon, but its the best thing we have) the red trigger at the base of the saber should be the activator button. I was thinking to myself after my first post about that, about how that configuration could be rather wierd to wield as you could accidentally turn it on or off. So, I did some research and watched the scene from AOTC again and I noticed that Dooku holds his saber very high on the hilt, almost at the emitter. Holding the saber in such a fassion appears that it would keep you from hitting that trigger accidentally.

The latest round of images has me really psyched about the Obi. It looks better and better to me. I mean, sure it's a little wide like most of the FX line...but aside from that it's a fine saber. And remember guys...these ARE mass produced and they DO go for <= (less than/equal to) ~$120. So...with all that in mind...that is a NICE saber.
Can't wait to pick one up to "dual wield" with Obeisance (by which I mean wildly flail around with two cool glowy things....oooooooo)

I'm sure they'll just reuse the recyled sounds which will sorta suck. For Dooku's they should use the distinct sounds they used in AOTC.
Let's hope they read this forum and get working on getting the new sounds from Lucafilms and simply sending them to the board company.. However I don't think they will go thru all that trouble however it would show they care about getting the sound right at least..

I am just speculating but I assume the Obi and Dooku will be released first half of the year and Ahsoka and Luke 2nd half of the year maybe around the holiday season. Its safe to say there will be at least 1 new saber released around Christmas and I don't think they are gonna sit on these for 9 months. I am confident we will see all 4 sabers this year considering the short time it took for pictures to turn up. Wasn't to long ago when we first heard the rumors and now pics!! To me things are moving faster than expected!
I will be getting both ...I was looking forward to the Dooku but after seeing the TPM OBI ...man that thing looks clean.

In addition, I actually think that we will see a re-release of the Anakin AOTC LED version in the near future, because it shares essentially all of the components with the Vader saber.
Anyway, I think the Dooku saber is a definet winner. Bravo to Hasbro !!

I am not sure if they are actual "re-release" sabers, it is possible that they are left over inventories from MR that Hasbro wanted to use up instead of just having them go to waste. We will see if those four sabers (Including Yoda) stays in production throught out 2009, that IMO, may be a good indicator of what's Hasbro's plan is for the Fx-line.

The Obi-Wan looks a tad thick compared with the blade, no? Is it similar in size to the MR prototype that Anakin reported on?

Ohhh,... and a minor thing, I'm ordering them at Ultra's,... I only want the UltraFX versions lately.
I love the feeling of a working hilt in my hand, without the blade.
So I have to be more patient, but I'm tired of buying them twice, everytime.

Yes, but there is oversized, and then there is oversized. The Luke ANH is only the tiniest bit oversized to fit the electronics. That TPM saber on the other hand looks positively huge, to a degree somewhere between Luke ESB and Anakin AOTC. I have to guess it's the same one Anakin gave a review of a couple of years ago.

I would have to put the Vader ESB up there to being one of the closest in 1:1 size. I have the FX and the LE and I will tell you you would need a caliper to tell the difference in sizes.

I have seen alot of members says they want screen accurate size hilts, which the Luke ROTJ or the Obi ROTS didnt accomplish. I to am in that league, yes I want the screen accurancey, but I want sound accurancey as well, the generic jedi and Sith sounds work well, however one sound should be for one saber, period. I have only the Vader ESB since it has the most accurate sounding effects, I think the same should be for any saber that is made whether it comes from hasbro or a sabersmith, having accurate movie sounds make the saber more personal towards the character, yes the Dooku and Obi look great but its the generic sound effects that push me away from buying. I highly doubt these will have the exact saber sounds from the respective movies

I agree, I too want movie accurate sounds for each saber, but I've been waiting waaay too long for the Obi-Wan TPM to come out, so I've GOT to have it. ;D
Of course, I plan to have it converted to a P4 Blue LED ASAP. ;) At least unlike the Anakin ROTS, with the way it's designed, you won't have to worry about having an aluminum blade holder for major dueling.
That's one of the main reasons why I haven't bothered to convert my Anakin. :-\

Dont get me wrong I love the Dooku, but I would be interested in a re-release of the Luke ROTJ or the ESB models, call me a original trilogy fan. I wonder if Hasbro has considered a remold of both, thinner neck for the ROTJ, better and louder sounds along with a metal hilt for the ESB.

You do realize that the photos on Replix are photoshopped versions of actual hilts or older FX's? There are photos of the real thing on the first page of this thread.
Regarding the batteries, yes the Luke ROTJ says 3 batteries so that means they redesigned it smaller like the Obi-Wan. However the Mace says 6 batteries....whether that's AA or AAA who knows but it could have been a typo too. I plan to order those two in a couple of months.

Be patient. Yoda's been really super busy working on pumping out all those chassis. The Negotiators are not far behind, I'm sure. I was very lucky to snag mine when I did...and it is worth the wait. The saber is more accurate than the Larbels (trust me, I had them both to compare) and is in a class of it's own. My pics don't do it justice, but you can see them here:

My recommendation is that it is best to wait until someone has actually seen the re-released sabers before making a purchase. At least we know for certain that the Dooku and OWK-TPM/AOTC are indeed being made by Hasbro, but not so with the Luke ROTJ & MW AOTC/ROTS. Considering what is happening with today's economy and what I have seen happened right here on this forum, unless you are obsolutely sure that the seller is trustworthy, I would be very careful about pre-ordering anything on the net.
Hasbro may very will be re-releasing them as I think there is a market for those two hard to find sabers (Just see EBay), but IMO, it may be best to wait for a confirmation.

Tulak, if you want ot get real technical, one could argue Anakin was a slightly dark jedi. ;) ;) But that not this topic.
I'm really hoping that the Obi-wan will be all metal, and not plastic. If the blade socket is deep enough, then it'd looks like it would be ideal for dueling right off.

I just want the Dooku. It would finally be a decent curved hilt to duel with!! And, even if Ultra doesn't make the metal blade holders, which Im sure they will eventually, hopefully we'll be able to convert them without one for the time being. Then just put in the metal holder once they come out. That's my plan, anyways, as soon as someone figures out how to get them apart good.

The Dooku switch appears to be well-placed, though: It won't be too noticeable AND it will be easily accessible as you're gripping the hilt.
The red button seems to be the activation switch on the Obi-Wan TPM, which is pretty cool.

Nope. Same old here. Surprisingly, though, the Obi Wan has a Sith board as well as the Dooku. Wonder if it's just a proto thing, or if that's the final piece?
They really do need to make a couple new boards. The same 2 boards they've been using ad nauseam, are really killing any interest in owing future FX-sabers. Unless I can retro fit them with a CF, that is...

I dunno about that. As Joclad also observed, the power up and down, and the idle hum, definitely sound a little different. Still not movie accurate, of course - but different.

The hilt on the obi wan looks smaller in the video than in the pictures.....by a lot :o...is it possible that the ones in the pictures prototypes or something that later became thinner?

Having never actually held even a hasbro saber, I am extremely impressed. Of course it could never compare to a yoda saber. Still pretty darn good for hasbro! I think I want the obi wan version :-\

The sounds are usual, BUT,... the humming is more present, more of a clearer/deeper snorring.
The music in that video is very irritating and stupid, cause the sound of those sabers are so important to hear.
But I'm very glad to see them for real.
Lets hunt him down and get that guy in, for a hearing.

Looks good and sound good. The Dooku sabr does sound like the other sith saber sabers though, but the Obi seems to have slightly different clash and swing sounds, but it's hard to tell just by the video.
The Dooku looks pretty good size wise, I was expecting much bigger.
EDIT: After listening again, and again, ....I kinda think the "hum/idle" sound is pretty different on the Obi, it sounds lower in pitch, at least to me.
I'm ordering them as soon as I can.

I doubt it. Hasbro has had a MSRP for all of their FXes at 99.99$ and I really doubt they want to raise their price point.

Some things I like about the sabers. One the look real close to the actual prop. Two the blades looked bright even in the light. Three did I hear better swing sounds and morea agressive idle hum. Things I dont like. One the Dooku has that Vader one clash sound which is the Sith power up, Obi has the generic Jedi power up, and Dooku has the once again has the generic sith power up, all in all not bad, good to see a Dooku force fx made but not jumping at these

Dooku does have the Vader sound, though. Can recognize that one a mile away.
But the Obi-Wan has a new sound...and the switch placement is perfect! They used the red switch!

Well, I'll just get Dooku, and if it doesn;t sound good, I'll take out the sound board and put it in one of the aluminum sabers my dad said he'd help me make, and put a better one in the Dooku. Unless I really hate the hilt, but I don't think I will. I've been looking forward to a good, curved saber for my personal dueling one for a while.
Dang, now I'm gonna need to get my hands on an Ultrasound 2.1....

These two particular sabers will be PRIME candidates for US and CF installs, so sound should really be a non-issue for everyone on this forum. 8)
Nevertheless, I will still have several of each in stock form (especially the Dooku). You gotta have a Dooku with the scrolling effect. ;D
Darth Matth, you're right, I've already got probably the best Obi out there (the AOTCF 4.0 Negotiator), but that aint stoppin' me from getting the Hasbro. Afterall, this is my saber, man. ;D

Ooooooooo pretty....I DEFINITELY need to pick up the Obi now. I do like the red button as the activation switch...however I was hoping for more of a Maul style button (the rotary switch) instead of a sliding setup...it seems, to me, that it would be too easy to deactivate the Obi mid-twirl.

My Hasbro Anakin ROTS is hard to get forward to put it on and backward to get it off.
At first I thought "WHAT tHE HECK'', but than I reallized it was perfect.
They fixed that on/off problem, during dualling and stuff.
I can swing and everything and it won't turn off.
Good work Hasbro.
I cannot believe they would go that old road again, with to smooth buttons.

I just called the german store offering the Obi Wan TMP from this day on and was told that they themselves had spoken to Hasbro with the following result: The newly designed sabers are not to come UNTIL Juli (that doens't mean that they'll be available in July!) AND they will NOT be available in Europa AT ALL since Hasbro did forbid to import them!!!
Somehow I have a bad feeling about this...

Hasbro's been in the toy business for years; they know very well what time to release products in order to make the biggest profit. I'd be surprised if they came out be for Christmas... :-\

It's what they always said, so when they do deliver, you'd think it's special and it's your only chance to buy them.
So you take them imediatelywithout a thought, for almoost twice the price.
I live in Europe, here in the Netherlands.
But still,... I always bought them from the US.
The shipment for one saber is high, but in the end, it saved me always a third of the price I would have payed here.

Does anyone know how it is with the costumer care of Hasbro.
I alway's did order my sabers from overseas and 3 or 4 times I had a defect on my saber, but Master Replika was alway very helpfull by sending a new one.
Can I buy my Hasbro's save from overseas or am I getting stuck with a broken LED saber id that happens?

I am about to die to find out an official release date. I keep checking Rebelsucm and theforce.net, as well as Hasbro's site. Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Has anyone noticed that the blades seem to be bigger? Maybe It's just my perception, but it appears that the Obi has a massive blade. Maybe it's because i'm spoiled after looking (and Drooling) over some of the customs. :D

I've also heard the Hasbro sound effects are okay but not that great and that the light is really dim compared to other FX's. Thoughts on that?

The hasbro sounds are exactly the same as their MR counterparts. The blade brightness is also exactly the same.

I have a Yoda (small blade) and I never play with that cause my first one had broken LEDs very fast.
MR replaced that one for me, Hasbro has to proove himhelf in that..

It's impossible to tell from the available pics we have so far if Hasbro has included the purple hemi. Hopefully it does have it, as I like that detail a lot myself.

It sure does seem like I've been waiting years. I am pretty desperate to own the Dooku. The curved hilt has ALWAYS been my favourite, I just admire the way he holds it like he's a proper fencer, IMO it is such a pure hilt, symbolising a whole different style to the orthodox which others tend to use. Dooku IMO is one of the best characters in SW, just the way he fights is so... elegant. And if you are into the EU then you'll know his backstory is quite interesting. Anyway that's off topic but the hilt to me is a symbol of Dooku, his values and his style, and I will be thrilled when I own it in FX form ;D

I'm sure it is. The fatter the hilt is, the easier it is to get the guts into it.
However, if you don't want to spend upwards of $475 on the new phase blade version, a little fat may have to be acceptable ;)

Probably at the end of this year's last sale quarter or beginning of next year's first sales quarter. Which means, about fall/winter for the later. If winter, could lead into Jan 2010. Gives them time to fix any problems and to generate a big enough stock to spread around. Might be in for the Christmas crowd.

I wrote Brian Toys about the release date...and they told me that they should probably get them by middle of September. Hasbro sends them release dates but they said they aren't always accurate.

Great... now the decision... do I wait to get this one (Obi's) and have it converted by one of our skilled sabersmiths... or do I wait for the JQ sabers version....
Obi Saber too fat, Wookie Crisp?.... With the Obi TPM being the one I've wanted forever (see my post in WTB...)... I'm wanting it to be as screen accurate as possible.
It really would be kind of a disappointment if the dimensions and proportions really do get messed up.

I don't think the obi saber is too fat. I hope your not going by the pic on starwars.com because there's obviously nothing to compare it to. Look at the pics at the top of the thread, it looks to be a pretty good size.

Looks a little small/short... but you can't tell until you've bought it, it just seems like it's longer in the film. Still, awesome that Hasbro FX is working on some of the other lightsabers!

The pics and videos from the toys show looked a lot better than the sw shop site, and the sw shop site is not an actual product image so im inclined to think the pics and videos we have seen thus far are a fairer interpretation of what we should expect. But as obi wan said, its going to be hard to judge until we actually get our hands on these, ahh sep 15 could not come soon enough.
On a side note, I read on another forum that hasbro is planning an ashoka saber as well as ventris. Lets hope that obi wan and tyranous do well so hasbro keeps coming out with new hilts. I would love a set of ventriss sabers.

Yeah! Never judge a saber by it's picture!
By the looks of things, they seem pretty decent sized. Although one has to admit, FX sabers have never been too screen accurate with the possible exception of the Luke ANH, Anakin ROTS and Vaders. All the others seem to be a bit big on some fronts.
However, thing back to AOTC on certain scenes how big Dooku's saber looked...it was never a tiny little thing now, was it? Seemed decently long sometimes. And really...$100 for an Obi saber that's just a little bigger than the prop is PRETTY darn good if you ask me.
I'll post my reviews the day I get these bad boys....they ship on my 3rd wedding anniversary, too! :D

Spinning curved sabers is trick, especially during tosses. They tend to wobble a bit in the air.
The first time I ever spun Shiva 2.0, I smacked myself in the back of the head.

Dooku's saber is actually quite small. I've seen the prop and have my own replica, and the grip are is only 1 1/8" in diameter.

I have to preorder the Dooku but can wait on the Obi-wan. I have pretty much stripped and sold all my MR hilts because I like doing the custom stuff better but I have wanted a Dooku saber since I first saw it so that will be one I keep (along with my Luke ROTJ and Anakin AOTC).

I was just watching the video (featured on the first page of this thread) again, and I couldn't help but notice something which I am suprised nobody has picked up on: When the guy switches the Obi Wan lightsaber on, the sounds coming out of it are actually sith sounds ??? Infact the sound is EXACTLY the same as what came from the Dooku.
For anybody who missed this video:
While I realise that the finished product will almost certainly have the normal 'Jedi' saber sounds, I just thought it was interesting that nobody had noticed this yet.

I'm sure it'll be just like the other FX line with the unscrew pommel. I'm very curious as to the dimensions and weight of these things. The Dooku looks pretty big, but the Obi looks just fine. Let's hope they fix that Sith soundboard in the Obi1.

Ohh wow, the ventris looks rough, I suspect sales for it might be a little low.
But that obi wan tmp looks SEXY!
I think im going to cut the neck off, and make a thinner neck when I do my cree conversion.
Also I might mill out the grips and put a thinner section in there so they look deeper, I think with a little work this can be a realy KILLER lightsaber.

That will also depend on where the purple jewel is in relation to the blade and blade socket. It might be a simple matter of just drilling a hole and letting light from the blade light it up. If it requires an led, and the mounting hole is ion the blade socket, I'm not sure how you'd go about wiring that led up. Wires inside blade sockets don't work too well, I'm afraid.

I wouldn't mind a blued finish on a metal hilt, but the ventruss saber looks like plastic in the pictures. Until someone gets one and gives a better detailed review I'm not spending any money on one.

Thanks for those additional pics of the Dooku and Ventress sabers. The Dooku does look a bit on the fat side but understandable because of the electronics. However, it still looks awesome. Irving, were you able to get additional pictures of the Obi-Wan?

well... in the 3D-animated show the ventress saber is silver, but you got a pic that really makes it look blueish.. but as i said before, it's silver..
someone told me the cartoon version was blue.... no it's not(!) according too that pic.. im confused haha.
still, the 3D clone wars has alot of shadows.. thats why it looks blue.

Since the Dooku is such a fatty saber, I don't think I will get one, not even a converted one.
The Obi TPM seems to look quit real sized, so I'll wait for a conversion of that saber.
I still think there will be a saber smid out there who will make a Dooku which is more acurate.
Look at JQ-sabers who is making the Dark Lord Sideous saber.
A dooku will come out in time, I'm a believer.

When the Ventress saber comes out, I'm definitely getting two of them! I might get the Count Dooku, I'm not sure. Since I'm more of a fan of Jar'Kai, the Ventress saber seems to fit the role of dual-wielding (naturally) better than the Dooku.

And as for the Ventress... I'm SO disappointed ! I love her sabers (in both 2D and 3D Clone wars)... but they have always looked in par with Ventress : slim, elegant and full of grace... Now when I look at what they've done here, it looks so bulky, fat and not pleasant to handle at all
I really wanted to take a Ventress... but I guess I'll rather take a Tempest from Ultrasabers and try to customize it (The Hasbro Ventress looks even MORE like a toy/fake than the Tempest...)

why does everyone keep saying the Dooku looks fat? As far as i can tell none of the photos of the thing so far have any evidence as to the ACTUAL diameter of the hilt. Untill someone gets their hands on one then it is all pure speculation at this point. I myself think it looks fine no where near the hugeness of the Mace Windu. Sorry folks i just think ppl are jumping the gun here. I mean the Dooku is THE Sabre that EVERYONE has been waiting for and we are getting it and yet ppl are complianing before anyone save the ppl at Hasbro has touched. I will be getting the Dooku the Obi TMP and double Ventress. I don't care what ppl say the ventress looks badass, and the Dooku is going to be my most prized sabre.

Assuming the blade on the hilt is 1", you can judge the size of the hilt. The blade seems quite small compared to the emitter, meaning the saber is probably proportionally larger than accurate. Owning a replica myself, I can tell you, that thing is fat!
Also, look at the covertec clip. That's a lot smaller in comparison than, say this:

These look good, the obi wan will be good for people who can't afford the parks etc and the dooku looks really nice but it IS fat i have the LE and its much smaller in diameter. I also think they have made a mistake with the Ventress because they made it look like the animated version (if you see what i mean) so next to the movie ones it looks like a toy. Which some may argue it is, but i think they should have got a concept artist to design a movie worthy version - perhaps someone on here will put their skills to that one!

The new FXs (with the exception of the color they chose for the Ventress) are great-looking sabers for what they are: (relatively) inexpensive collectible replica FXs. No one should have expected these new FXs to be LEs with light and sound. If you want 100% accuracy, you'll need to cross over to the custom realm. ;)

well, ...yes, Dark Navel undoubtably made the best Dooku any of us has ever seen, .....but can he do it again for under $120.00?
Hasbro makes these "replicas" with cost factor in mind, .....trying to get the best of both worlds.

I'll say that for Hasbro, the Dooku and Obi look good. Considering the long wait for them we've endured, I'll take just about anything at this point for the $99 I preordered both for and be happy. It's not like they're not going to be gutted within ten minutes of reaching my bench anyway.
But all that being said, Orakaa is on to something about thoughtful engineering. 'Makes me wish sometimes that one of the mass production guys picks up a phone and calls some of our forumites here to consult about engineering these things to more accurate spec. For example, didn't Yoda do an overlay for a scale Dooku once? Yeah, I believe he did.
Of course, if the mass pros think it's even worth their time to reengineer, say, the fatty Mace, is another question altogether.
In life, many things CAN be done, but SHOULD they from a [reliable] projected profit perspective....

oh no i don't expect them to be as detailed and well presented as an LE (although the dooku looks pretty detailed to me) i just meant the size could be smaller, look at the yoda or the maul. As for the ventress i wouldn't pay this kind of money for a saber that looks so cartoony. But on the plus side at least they are releasing new models

The main reason Dark Navel's Dooku was so expensive was because of so much designing and planning that went into the saber. From a cost perspective, I don't think it would be that much more expensive to produce anyway, especially if they are mass produced.
I remember reading somewhere that it only cost Master Replicas (and Hasbro I guess) like $40 to make one FX.

I knew a guy from a company who bought watches there for $3 and sold them for over a $100 with a live garantee for exchanging when broken.
When you buy them as mess production, they will be so cheap there.

i can't seem to find the site where i seen that, but it was a site that was offering pre-orders and it said they ship out of 10/15.

Wow. After going through all 34 pages, all I can say is
The more I look at the Obi-Wan lightsaber, the more I want it. At first I was turned off by the thick middle section, where the grip is. In some pictures, it looked like the grooves for the silver sections weren't grooved in at all. But after looking at different angles, it doesn't look that bad. Actually, it looks pretty awesome to me- especially for the price! I also like the tiny details they added- I mean they could have just been lazy and not put the holes in the pommel cubes and sold it as an Obi-Wan AOTC saber. haha :P
This has always been my favorite hilt and I'm so happy that they made an fx version of it! ;D

lets think about it from a business stand point and not a collector's stand point.
The design of their sabers is close enough for their percieved customer base, and is cheaper for them to produce than a screen accurate replica.
Imagine Hasbro trying to pass the idea on to consumers that they should pay 400+ for an "adult collectible" from a "Toy manufacturer"

While I am greatly looking forward to these hilts, I think I'll end up waiting for a bit. This should give Ultra the chance to work out the conversions, then I'll just get them from him. Course, I could be adventurous and do it myself.......
Even though I work on electronics, for some reason I am nervous about tearing into these things, I think its the thought that I might mess up my $100+ "toy". For a long time, that has been a lot of money for me, as it is for many others, I'm sure.

YES, you have the prop versions, so that will be very interresting.
I'm also interrested to see how bright they are compared to the last Obi Wan ROTS and how loud they are compared to the Anakin ROTS, and also if (Not likely but still) there is some difference in the soundboard.
Because both hilts are very differend compared to the other sabers the soundcolor will be a bit differend too, I think.

I never got to see the MR version, but I can tell you that I am very pleased with my Hasbro. It's probably next in line for conversion, just not sure if I want to get the TPM first or not ;)

Jedi4, let me explane you, that the Obi Wan ROTS origenally has a thin neck.
This is because of the construction, for Hasbro and MR impossible to make in the FX serie, unless they would go for a thinner Yoda like blade.
Now the Obi Wan TPM has no thin neck from the start, so this FX version of TPM will be more acurate to the prop.
That's why I didn't understood why they made this ROTS instead of TPM.
Oh well, I know that the ROTS movie was just out, that's why, but still.

Today I called Hasbro's customer support # 1800-255-5516, I was told the Dooku and Obi-TPM may be available any day this month in local toystores, Ex- Toys R Us. I would start calling my local toy stores, guys.

Vane, I don't think thats what u need to this.... That is for MHS hilts, not conversions. Converted sabers doon't need the resistor, adn use the stock batter pack, usually. To get P4 installed in the dooku, you may have to wait until TCSS or ultrasabers make their conversion kit. Otherwise, I'm sure you could send it to one of the sabersmiths here, and they could probably do it.

Frodo, I'm sure most sabersmiths need to figure out how to do a conversion first. Though they might take yours, they might want to "experiment" first. It's better to PM a sabersmith then just say "Anyone." Try PMing Vaders Vault, Lord Dottore Matto (LDM) or Gemini Concepts and see if they're willing to do it yet. If not, patience ;).

I've been looking online for any major store that may carry them, but have not found anything.
Previously Walmart, Borders and spencer gifts used to carry them.

Thanks Darth_Gius, i've looked and checked with the one in Sunset Hills (Watson&Lindberg) and also the one at the Mills Mall with no luck so far. Didn't check at spencer's at the Mills Mall but did check at the one in Westfield Plaza...nothing there either. I don't know why Toys'r'us in Sunset Hills said they wouldn't carry them anymore...they just put up a new display for star wars at the front of the store again.

Toys R Us guy I talked to said he hadn't sen/heard of it yet, but to check back next wednesday when they get their shipment.
Borders is a no show here too, game stores, sword shops (yes, I have seen them there before) and other entertainment shops like FYE and SunCoast don't have 'em yet either. Didn't try Best Buy though.
Star Wars Shop doesn't have them on preorder anymore, but they are out of stock.

just got done talking to gothenqcowboys. the hilt one the dooku is all metal except for the red button. and the pommel on the Obi-Wan TPM is metal.

Im guessing thats on the seller. If they send to unconfirmed address or not. My guess is probably not, but ask Stephen at REDFORD and he'll tell you for sure. He just signed up this week in the the forums and is a great guy. He updated me through the whole wait time. He also said the other night he had a bunch left over after preorders went out and I actually got 2 more, so hit him up and he will get you straight!!!!!

Most likely you paid with paypal and paypal has not confirmed your address. We do ship to unconfirmed addresses on Paypal so your order will be processed as usual.

I got my Dooku Yesterday, and my Obi wan TPM will be here monday, if anyone wants here is the video I posted on Youtube of it, as I put in the video, any more videos of anymore of my sabers, I would be happy to show them of better quality, or my Custom Luke ROTJ from a modified Saber Custom Kit with a 36 inch Saberforge blade installed myself, and some other mods, Thanks!

Got mine today. I am pleased with it. I finally have my FIRST SW stand too!
I will be waiting for a kit to come out and the open schedule of hopefully Jango to get my conversion done.
I know what my first Maul I stripped looked like, I am NOT doing this conversion myself.
I like the battery keeper addition, quite cool.

Well I'm going to say screw it and get the Obi-Wan TPM FX saber on Monday from Redford. I really want that saber...and hopefully in December I can pick up the Dooku saber.

Well I got both of mine last night. I kept being asked over and over about what I wanted for christmas so I let me mom do the pre-order for both. She gave them to me way early anyway obviously, but should have right after getting them. Why of course? The obi wan has about 4 inches of blade where the LEDs aren't coming on...and I'm out of the return period to redford >:( Was just going to keep these both stock for my MR/HFX collection, but now I'm stuck with a partially broken one. Guess its getting converted anyways. :-\
Other than that though I will say they did a pretty decent job on both. The dooku is definitely a fatty and heavy saber, but its not too huge for my fairly large hands. Nice styling overall and will have to learn some new style to even play with that one. The obi-wan is a pretty good size and really isn't that big. The sound was a little muffled as I've heard, but not horribly.

I'm sorry to here about the obi wan. If you can take it apart yourself, then you have a chance of fixing it without having ot convert it. My LUKE ANH had a section that flickered and it just needed the pin connector on the board pushed back on.

Overall the saber looks GREAT. But it is just a little too big. But I do understand that part having to fit all the electronics in there. But, also they have made small so I don't see why they couldn't have done the same with this saber.

Ordered the Obi Wan from the Boys at Gemini, so I'm not sure what a stock saber is, BUT I'm in love with the saber, which is saying much, as it's not my favorite out there.
I like that it's not as girthy as expected - a feature that turns me off to the replicas in general due to my small hands. It has a nice balance, and um, very shiny.
Not sure how helpful this post is, considering I never saw one stock, only converted, but as this is a Christmas present AND HE WON'T SHARE (yeah, I'm lookin' at you buddy! :D ), I'm now trying to justify buying another one for me.

I've been out of the loop for a while on these, and so I have no idea if they ever at any point came out over here in the UK. Does anybody know if they did? I ask because I had them ordered with Forbidden Planet last Christmas and they kept getting postponed until eventually I cancelled my order. I asked one of the guys when I was in one of thier shops a few weeks ago and he said that he doesn't think they ever got them in.

Normally they have the FX-lightsabers, but I havent been there for over 2 years.
Still, the Netherlands are not the UK, but it's nearby.

I just recieved a Dooku from a seller on ebay who brought it over from the States. Got a very good price all things considered (£82 posted) and the saber is in fantastic condition. I'd say he'd only used it once or twice from looking at it. I am thrilled needless to say, as the Dooku was always my favourite from the PT.
I'm in desperate need of an Obi Wan TPM now though. That saber is beautiful. Maybe Hasbro will release them over here soon?
