Hello..
This is my From Replica Graflex to Luke ANH project. It will feature a Gabywan crystal chassis, assembled by me.
I received the PC-L, batteries, and other misc. electronics a while ago, today I got the chassis kit.
Specs to come:
PC-L
P4 blue/rebel cyan
Gabywan Chassis
The project where it stands now:

More updates on the assembly soon.. ;)
-
Well first update, the spring-loaded blade plug! ;D
As some of you might know, most Graflex blade plugs are held in place in the bunny ear/reflector holder ring thingy, so that when the plug is in, the bunny ears are a bit bent. (looking from the front)
And as I store all my sabers with blade plugs in (if they have) I really hated the bent bunny ears-effect.
So, what I came up with is
A TCSS 1" clear blade plug, with the graflex bulb-thingy epoxied on, with a spring, which pushes the plug so that it touches the ring but doesn't bend it.

-
will that not want to scratch or damage the led lens?
-
I thought of that, but the spring is plastic ;)
-
I have the chassis almost done, I still need to get a rivet gun and do the electronics.
Here's the crystal wrapped

And here's the tactile switch set up
(https://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi942.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fad268%2FRafalema%2FGraflex%2520Build%2Fth_IMG_4651.jpg&hash=50bb9afb7ee20d2d1d29e4327193eb998b6ff9cf) (http://s942.photobucket.com/albums/ad268/Rafalema/Graflex%20Build/?action=view¤t=IMG_4651.jpg)
Next up is the chassis assembly and electronics ;)
-
Is that a Parks Graflex? Are you using the TCSS blade holder or the one from The Graflex Shop?

Is that a Parks Graflex? Are you using the TCSS blade holder or the one from The Graflex Shop?
Graflex shop my friend! ;)
-
Gaby is correct. That's a TGS BH.
About the flashgun itself, I'm not sure :-\
-
Good stuff. 1" or 3/4"? I'm leaning towards the 1" because it is shorter in the hilt.
-
1" ;)
EDIT: Here's a crystal lit up pic :D :D

those are very cool brass pins connected to the crystal mount, are they coming with Gabywans chassis?
-
I love 'em too, and yup, they're included :)
-
i thought so, great work Gabywan!!! :) can't wait for mine ;-)
-
Not a big update..
bought the rivet gun/pliers today,
(https://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi942.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fad268%2FRafalema%2FGraflex%2520Build%2Fth_IMAG0436.jpg&hash=224d833e8fab2c3e71235671315be43ab09ad697) (http://s942.photobucket.com/albums/ad268/Rafalema/Graflex%20Build/?action=view¤t=IMAG0436.jpg)
Paid 15 $ for that set :)
-
Looking awesome, Raf!
Is the rivet gun for the chassis?
-
Yup, I'll take some pics and explain once I get home ;)
-
Well, today was the chassis assembly day..
PIC RAMPAGE!!!!!1!11!!!
Here's the PC-L next to it's new home. The kit had some (possibly?) extra 1/6-of-a-disk disks, so I cut the soundboard holding tube to fit an extra one, adding stability.

After the rivet gun. Riveting the end of a tube with a screw in the other end makes it easier to control the tightness and disassembly.

Unfortunately, no lit-up pics for the present time, I'm experiencing some problems with the lower crystal LED, and I managed to bridge some pads again ::) *sigh*
-
Hello..
I managed to unsolder the bridges, and the PC works perfectly again ;)
I also rewired the lower accent LED.
The LED in the pics is a Lux Rebel Cyan, which is plenty bright but looks too greenish for me. That will be replaced with either a P4 blue or a Cyan BIN 1.
Another thing for the chassis is to get some copper wire and do some cool wrapping, and maybe some mesh if I can find :)
The red button is the activation, and there is no aux button.
I present to you, my Graflex ANH, as it stands now.
Opened up
