EP7 "Hero Lightsaber" on display at Disneyland
« on: November 13, 2015, 12:24:08 PM »
Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but as part of its Season of the Force event, Disneyland has some props from The Force Awakens on display, including what they're calling the "Hero" lightsaber.

The exhibition isn't open to the public until Monday, but this model has no beer tab and, it seems, no mylar tape: Hero Complex on Twitter: "Oh hey Luke's lightsaber. #SeasonOfTheForce

I thought you all might appreciate this link here as it shows in high resolution some of the amazingly cool new props from TFA, including a familiar looking lightsaber!

Oh awesome, thanks Psab - best shots of the prop yet! We'll see if this is what actually shows up consistently on-screen, but I'm liking the combination of ANH and ESB elements on this model more every time I see it.

the side of the clamp was missing where the lever threads in? Its right when we see it for the first time when rey opens the box. And omgggggg the chills i got on that close up!
There might have been more but... yeah.

Is there a detailed comparison of the ANH, ESB and TFA Graflex yet?

Another fun movie flaw I noticed: the Rey catches the saber in the final duel, she holds it the wrong way so she could not ignite in the next cut on her, when the blade extends its the right way.

why do people keep insisting on this lightsaber to be the 'Hero' saber. This lightsaber was used to kill a bunch of Jedi younglings and pretty much end the Jedi order?

Hero means like the main lightsaber used. There are usually different versions so hero means the version that is most associated with the character. even though those younglings were quite annoying and couldn't defend themselves at all. I know they are little kids but they are force sensitive and should have padawan lightsabers.. I just think they should have gone out better than being so easily killed.

Also, it typically refers to the prop used for close-up shots, not necessarily the one used for the action. See: Luke ROTJ V2.
