Machinimax and I were just discussing this. I love the look, but I wish the saber wasn't hidden!

My guess is not because SW franchise always had a master figure or two (like Obi Wan in PT and Yoda in OT  to guide the younger hero. If Luke were to die, there will be no elder Jedi master to teach our new, young Jedi hero (Rey supposedly).

However, someone needs to die so that there is a motivation for the young Jedi to take the way of the force. Qui Gon and Obi Wan died respectively in PT and OT before Anakin and Luke received their training as a Jedi. I guess this leads to the speculation that Han Solo, Leia and even Luke are possible sacrificial lambs this time.

yeah i heard that that han is killed and his son ren is now out to kill luke because of it so the force awakens and he teaches rey the ways of the force , so its brother and sister dark and light side ?

Looks like an awesome costume, I just hope he keeps his same green lightsaber.

Now let's all join hands and pray to the Force that the fights are better than the prequels, and Rey actually comes off looking awesome...

Idk man prequel fights were pretty good with the exception of ep. 2...

yeah haha this moment was definitely strange and unnecessary but besides that i thought it was pretty good, luke vs vader in 6 still wins for me though :))

Luke has a ways to go before he becomes one with the Force. according to one story (maybe wookieepedia) he's approx 117 when he departs this world.

says who? the EU is gone, remember? disney pretty much has free reign to do whatever. opening night i am going to bring a whole box of tissue and an AED in case they decide the whole OT cast goes down in a fireball onboard the falcon.  :o :'(

but yes, wish we got a peek at the saber... i am in high hopes its a weathered ROTJ Hero  :))
and if it is, not sure which hilt to bring with my kleenex and AED lol either finlukin saber (yeah thats the graflex with all 3 owners names rolled into one lol) or my ROTJ Hero... time will tell... and maybe more spoiler pics lol

Just a thought.  We all know JJ Abrams is notorious for misdirection.  Could this just be a ruse to keep us in the dark to his actual presence (the picture costume looks nothing like the guy who puts his robot hand on R2.  Could it be a pre-special effect ghost Luke? (hence no lightsaber)...  Oh, the possibilities.
