Graflex momentary options?
« on: March 05, 2009, 05:27:36 AM »
Hio all,
Just curious what the typical graflex setup is on a replica graflex w/ the graflex shop lux converter (small one).  I’m assuming most people put a momentary tactile under the red graflex button, but I want to check and see for sure.  Also if it is a momentary tactile, what is the most common one used? (Just seems like a lot of extra space between the button and the blade holder).

Thanks  :P

On my last build I used
http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/SPST-Momentary-tactile-switch-P261.aspx

The blade holder slide in easily and I did not have to worry about the button catching on the shell.
I then glued a small tab of plastic to the bottom of the button to make sure there was contact.

I have used the ones at mouser.com.  These are also the ones Yoda uses.  They are a bit smalller than the TCSS version.  A bit difficult to solder if you're not careful.

There's a link to the page somewhere here.  It's to the right of the dime, used for reference to scale.

Anyone know what would happen if i replaced the toggle switch from my Vader ANH FX saber with this little eensy weensy switch?

Simple, It would make your on sound then an immediate off sound.

Tactiles like those shown above are momentary, where MRs and the new Hasbro's need latching switches.

Really, what's the point though?  The slider is perfectly integrated into the box.  There is no advantage to switching it other than to be different, only disadvantages.

The one I used in my Graflex I got from a .99 cent laser pointer from the party store.
