Project Scaled Shadowbox Displays
« on: February 19, 2009, 01:37:07 PM »
I'm working on displaying all my .45 scaled mini sabers.

This is my first for Darth Vader - The Empire Strikes Back.

Note: Each shadowbox will have one of the original movie posters inside indicating which episode it appeared in (for those weak with the force). I inserted one here as an example.

The figure is from the Hallmark Star Wars Ornament series.

That's a very good concept for displaying the lightsabers... very elegant.

Actually I'm thinking about putting a few white LEDs inside the box to provide some light off perhaps a couple of AAA batteries. I was thinking about using a magnetic switch so I just walk up with a small magnet to turn the light on and have no external wires or switches. I need to build one and test it.

WOW!  Nice concept.  It looks fantastic!  I hope you have a lot of room though ;D

There is enough for (4) sabers with Hallmark figure and movie poster. Since most episodes only had a couple of sabers per Sith or Jedi. It should be OK. But with the different versions of, like, the Obi-wan sabers (i.e. As First Built, Weathered, Chase Gold, Chrome, etc etc). It could get tough to get them all in there...

Very nice :) How large are those framed boxes?

I don't have the exact measurements with me but it's large enough and deep enough to display a bunch of stuff. Darth had to be trimmed a little but most of the other figures do not require trimming.

Project Scaled Shadowbox Displays (continued)

So I continue working on these shadowbox displays. This is the next example that I'm working on. This uses a larger version of the Instant Shadowbox from Michaels. This shadowbox measures 12"H x 16"W x 2.5"D.

Here you see the mini sabers for Obi-Wan Kenobi as seen in the movies "Episode IV: A New Hope" and "Episode III: Revenge of the Sith". Since Master Replicas made more than two sabers each for these movies, more room is needed to display them. In "Episode IV: A New Hope", MR made (three sabers in front) the regular (not shown), chase, weathered, and "As First Built" versions of Obi-Wans sabers.

Again, the figures are from the Hallmark Star Wars Ornament Series.

You can see that I printed a test picture of the movie poster to get an idea of where and what size it needs to be.
