There is a reason why its like that, Im just blanking at the moment.

Easier to hold.  When you do a two-hand grip the thumb lands at an angle not straight.

I'm starting to wish that MR held off on at least one of the cool Vader LEs so that I would have had an opportunity to get one.  :P  It'd compliment my Luke replica nicely. There's no way I'd get the ROTJ. Ever. And the ROTS, well it's lovely, but not as cool as the ANH or ESB props.
