Dak-Tari... splanin' his self.
« on: October 19, 2011, 09:20:41 AM »
Greetings all.  I have been a member here for a few weeks, but I just saw a post encouraging newbies to introduce themselves here... so...

Hello!

I am new to the Sci-fi scene, and especially new to sabers and saber building.

I got all caught up in Historical Re-enactment when I was about 12 years old, and have been an participant in everything from 15th Century to WW2, with the bulk of the time spent in WW2 and in Golden Age of Piracy.  When I look back now, its been about 31 years as being part of "The Hobby".

If you are interested in such things, I run a website dedicated to the accurate portrayal of  Golden Age Piracy (and I was into it waaaaay before Johny Depp ever put on his bucket boots), called http://www.gentlemenoffortune.com/

My other passion is collecting and playing USA Era Reverend Musical Instruments (Guitars and Basses) and I have a website dedicated to that too http://www.revfan.com/

I have a Daughter (9) and a Son (6) who have just been exposed to Star Wars (we started with the Clone Wars last Christmas) and we have been slooowwwwly watching the "Big People Movies" starting with A New Hope, since August.  We are currently about 1/3rd the way through Attack of the Clones...

The kids have been jazzed to get Star Wars costumes ready for Halloween, and that was what led me to this forum a few weeks back.

We live in Germany (My wife and I work for the DoD) and will try to hook up with the various Star Wars groups here.... as soon as we get our kits together.

So far, the site and its folks have been a great help, and I hope to be able to give back, like I have received, one day.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard.  I'm willing to bet that with your previous costuming and reenactment experience, you'll actually have a lot more to give back right now than you realize.
