Making your own hyperdyne blade?
« on: January 26, 2011, 09:48:05 PM »
Hello. I scored an LED driver and SaberSD card awhile back and has been waiting for Hyperdyne to come up with his led string to come back in stock. Now I was just wondering if making my OWN would be easy and which parts would I need. I guess I could bridge the LEDS together like Sloth's however I am a bit confused about where to connect the Negative leads and positive from the driver. Well thats about it and thank you in advance for any advice.

Watcha!! Darth Insidious gonna get cha!!!!!

It's not easy and it is time consuming.  However, there are tutorials out there regarding the subject ;).  Eastern57 made one of the earlier DIY string blades and has a tutorial aroound here somewhere.  I'd search around on your topic, you'd be amazed how much information is out there for one who is looking ;).

Apples/oranges.

There's a reason that 11.1V is required vs the 3.7V of a single string.  Go check out the website and count how many LEDs are on a single strip.

...and let me know.  I stopped counting at 10... ran out of fingers... :D

25 on one side of the "heavy dueling" segment, there are two sides. 3 segments.

Sooo. I'm thinking about using a v2 hyperblade driver for a homemade string not because of the expense of a hyperblade or the lack of stock currently but because I want to be able to repair it when I inevitably break it..., ( and to be honest just for fun). I know from the documentation that the brightness is configurable and i was just wondering if anyone had measured the output at the various settings?
