Since there has only been one in-hilt sound board released by Hyperdyne, I think the new one would be more like a V2.

But yeah, there's currently very little information about this new board.

I would say head on over to the Hyperdine forums and ask. I do not think any members here have that info.

I am locking this thread, before any trouble starts.

If a member has any info on this topic, please PM me with it, and I will post it and reopen the thread.

Quote
Hey JANGO,

I contacted Hyperdyne asking about the new V3 board.  I pointed out the problems I heard about with the V2 board and this is what they said;

"Version two of the board doesn't have an accel on it. It was made as an afterthought really because we thought folks would want super accurate sound at high quality. The real gem is the wireless Bluetooth system. Which allowed you to have any sounds stored in an unlimited capacity at super high quality with bass. It feels like your saber is cutting through air. When version two / in-the hilt was made the tech wasn't there to do everything what we wanted like the wireless system satisfactorily. Now it is. The ignition speed is straight from the movies. We are now able to record what the noise is directly, because Ben Burtt told us what the sound is from. So all the characters had the same source as the ignition sound just modified slightly. So with the new soundboard you will be able to store anything you want as the ignition sound. Prior to that you could only do that with our wireless system. The v. 2 in the hilt had the ignition sound by character."

It sounds pretty good!...I just hope it lives up to it's high expectations.

I will re-open this topic for now. I am setting up a notifier on it, and will be tracking it.

BEHAVE.

Here is a link to a pic of the new V3 soundboard

This was a message he posted on the Hyperdyne forum on 11/24/08:

Hey guys, sorry for my absence. Since Halloween I have been really swamped with existing orders. I am just now catching up.  The sound board is in the same state - as I havent had time to work on it much. It is about 90% done, I really do want to finish it! I am getting sounds off the CF card, mixing them, and outputting them. The accel is also working.

Please realize I support over 50 different products on my site. Hyperblades in one of those, and I have to split my time serving customers, doing new product runs, and spending time on new development. I have been doing lots of Vortex work, blaster upgrades, GB boards, and filling general orders for the past couple months.

I really have way too many things on my plate, and I am looking to hire someone now. The other guy I had working on the sound board is about to have a baby, so he dropped off the face of the earth and left me holding the bag. At any rate, I know there is pent up demand for the sound module. I will get it done here as soon as I can clone myself. LOL I am hoping to have some time over the upcoming holidays, as I am taking a couple days off to get more work completed. I only do Hyperdyne work on the side, and that means during weekends and nights. And I try to spend more time with my kids these days so that also hinders massive amounts of progress.

Please consider that I am just a one-man show, but business has grown to the point where I could employ a couple of people. Until I can do that, I appreciate everyone hanging in there.

Well there's certainly room for improvement on the first version.  What a disappointment that was...

Possible the "CF card" is a Compact Flash card AKA Micro SD card.

Top is a CF (Compact Flash), bottom left MMC, and bottom right an SD card.  Micro SD is clearly even smaller and what's on that board.  I'd bet money he doesn't mean Compact Flash.

True that all are "flash cards", but Jim is no idiot and probably wouldn't use CF as referring to the memory card in a generic term.

Take what you want... I know what I'm thinking.

He's talked with Mr Burtt? I'm jealous. :)

Anyway, for the money I'd rather pony up for a CF (that's Crystal Focus ::)) board. I've read/seen that Hypers stuff ain't cheap. I'm not saying his stuff is bad per se (as I haven't tried his products) but they're definately not inexpensive.
