Ghostbusters Props w/CFv9 by e57

This is a Spirit Halloween GB Proton Pack, it's a super cheap alternative to an actual full-size, full-effect proton pack for close to a grand (or more).  I spent about $150 bucks; $80 for the pack, $70 for the CF. I had the ALICE frame and the rest of the electronic components already, but I'm sure you could still pull it off for under $200.

so cool (shared !)
I'm sure you just didn't have the time for this (who has  ? :cheesy:) but the accent led sequencer could better serve the 4 big red lights at the bottom with a circular (slow patter) that accelerates when in lockup mode, like it's done on the Thermal Detonator.
Aside this, really really good job on this thing, especially with the budget. Where did you get that proton pack kit  ?

Thanks, dogg! :afro: It's from Spirit Halloween, I got it from their website a couple years ago, but it's on Amazon now. :azn:

The reds are actually the ones that came with it, they're pre-mounted SMDs on PCBs.  They're separated in twos, but I figure why reinvent, when you can reuse.  I did have time -amazingly- but I used the sequencer for the in-line bargraph, mostly because I wanted that VU-look when playing the GB/AC/DC mash-up song. :cheesy:

Spirit Halloween is a shop that pops up in various disused store fronts ever year September-October.  Here in NYC there may even been 3 between two subway stops in some places.

I have yet to see one out in the wild, but they're getting a pretty good rep for making pretty solid, upgradable props.  That or maybe DIY is becoming more popular.  Either way - win. :afro:

Awesome, man.

I've got to try a proton pack build one of these days. With all that room, I could easily stuff an Arduino or DIYino in there with some shift registers to control a ton of LEDs and maybe even an OLED display. Or if I wanted it to be more 80's accurate, a 7-segment display.

You've given me a lot to think about. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, guys! Yeah, tons of room, it's basically just a shell, so all those sticky-outie parts are usable space.  Plus ebay has every upgrade kit that you could want.

To go with the rest of my Ghostbusters costume.  The side "screen" reminded me on a motion tracker from Aliens, so I made some sounds for that.  It's a CFv9 and an Adafruit CPX, with a button of LEDs to blind said buster of ghosts and/or tracker of alien motion.  :cheesy:

I haven watched it yet... but given my propensity to fixate on pop-cultural archetypes - it probably did. ;)  :cheesy:

Nice!!

I find your arguments vague and unconvincing.

Quiet! *Slap* And there’s a fresh one if you mouth off again.

Thanks, guys!  :afro:

Yes, the CPX is running the sound meter; I used the maker code.  I got it free with a batch of skinny strips, fun little gadget.
