http://www.darkhorse.com/zones/starwars/timeline.php

The SW timeline so you can see what you want or need to read.

http://www.darkhorse.com/search/search.php?sstring=Star+Wars%3A+Dark+Empire&nsstring=forces+x-wing+maul+vol.&viewmode=gallery

Dark Empire, Dark Empire II, and Empire's End would be the last  trilogy needed to finish the story of the Empire and Palpatine.  Since Lucas said that the SW story is about Anakin. Well in these chapter Luke keep talking to Anakin/Vader to find out his reason for going to the dark side.  It a much better reason in the book.

The Clone Wars TPBs are really good.  They are collected editions of the various comics (mostly Republic) that had Clone Wars stories, and they are put it order.  I have 1-7 and they are my favorite comic series I've collected this year.  More Durge, more Ventress, more cool characters that weren't in the movies, but should have been.  Quinlan Vos and Aayla have a good bit of stories in there.  I liked them a lot more than the cartoons.

oh. sure.

Its after ROTS and onto ANH...a bit before ANH though. The Empire is going to be betrayed by some people who were working withe the Empire, but now turn against it. They turn the Stormtroopers against the Empire too (vader/emperor). The Emperor has an objective for his apprentice (Vader). The reborn Anakin Skywalker (now Vader) being as cocky as he is, goes to his mission alone without any guards to help him out, trying to find a jedi blasphemously weilding a lightsaber on a planet (forgot the name). Vader goes to the planet in hope of finding this Jedi, but is bombarded with thieves and street bums who gather a large gang and try to kill Vader since he is alone. A man runs into a bar and yells "He is alone! the mighty lord Vader is alone!" Boba Fett being in the pub, hears this and rushes with all the other drunkies (lol), and insted of firing at Vader, he teams up with him and shoots the heck outta the bad guys, along with Vaders infamous lightsaber of course. They both eliminate all the weak enemies only to find themselves face to face with a female holding a green ignited lightsaber. About to strike her down, Vader is paused by her words; the woman says "Please Lord Vader, i am no Jedi! I wish to become a Sith! Think! You can have your very own apprentice, and overthrow the Emperor! I have forseen it!" Vader being loyal, slices her in two.

Meanwhile, Trachta and all the others turned against the Empire/Emperor, get aboard the Emperor's ship, and begin to send fleets upon fleets of Stormtroopers, trying to kill the Emperor. Obviously, Emperor Palpatine electrecutes all of them there (except his royal guards who were fighting for him). Then Vader comes aboard, and the Emperor says "I have another mission for you my apprentice..."

and onto volume 2 which i'll pick up later on in the next while!

hope you enjoyed it!

Toos! ;)

That is a good series.  I pick it up every once in a while when they cover some characters I like.  Every couple issues or so is like a new mini-series.  They had one a little while back with Vader.  And Purge came out not too long ago, its a one issue story with Vader right after ROTS.
