I hold it usually like by the top of the gold part, with my hand on the black part but not fully...it felt more comfortable that way with the switch out of the way, and my left hand i put near the bottom under the switch.  Actually, upon further inspection, it does shut off sometimes when i'm holding it inverted and spinning it, but usually it's pretty good.  (I have kind of small hands too so that might contribute to it)

Thats exactly how Im holding my Luke ROTJ, my right hand just below the orange part so the ''ringed'' part is not fully used. But I place my left hands thumb above the control box and just take a grip.

Interesting...putting my left hand above the control box feels akward to me.  It's cool how the Obi and Luke have such similar hilts so you can see what I was talking about.

Congrats! simply a wise choice for a 1st saber, now the temptation to own another FX is so great u hardly can sleep...hehe.
