I hate to waste anything so I was looking around to see what I could do with the old grenade section I originally used for my ROTS build (since I replaced it with the correct 6 groove grenade).

Well since I threaded it for MHS pieces I began looking through my misc MHS parts I have collected over the years to see what I could come up with.

Since I was off work today and was doing some machining for customers I decided to modify a few of my own pieces as well to see what I could come up with.

Fist I started with the 4" double female deep fluted MHS piece and machined it down to accept a box # 7.

Second I used the original MHS pommel 3v2 I had machined for my first OBI ROTS build a couple of years ago (didn't find it until I had already ordered and modified another one for my current ROTS build) and internally threaded it for MHS parts.  I put it in the double female section with a gender changer adapter.

Third I machined the neck ring similar to the ROTS but different and machined the copper neck piece.

I decided to connect them differently than the ROTS saber I am building so I internally threaded both of them.

Fourth...I made the blade holder and neck screw all from a solid piece of AL (this was really the only thing that took a while since I had to turn it so much).

Fifth...I cut off a blade holder #16 I had and press fit it onto the new blade holder piece.

Finally I screwed it all together.  I think it turned out to be a neat saber.

I still have to machine out the blade holder for the LED and blade but I will deal with that another day since I ran out of time today.

Here are the pics...(click to enlarge)...

When you make it look this easy, it's just mean.  Now I have 2 Obi threads to follow.

Another great example of awesome work and use of MHS as a foundation. Such an inspiration!

Thanks :)

Update on the saber.  It is now sold and I am working with the customer to do the finishing touches on it.

It will now have a CF7 and 2x18650s

Also we are blending aspects from ROTS and ANH since it is a custom.  It will have a bubble strip but on the side it will have one transistor (like on ANH) and one copper stud (like on ROTS).  It may sound funny but when you hold them up to the saber it looks really good and not out of place like you may think.

Today I powder coated the pieces and machined out the blade holder.  I also started on the speaker can for it.

Here are the pics...(click to enlarge)...

This is just the beginning of the speaker can.  I only have the side with the insert turned down correctly.  I will do the other side and bore it out for the speaker tomorrow.

The more I work with this saber the more I really like it...because its different yet familiar and is just a neat saber.  I really wish I was keeping it but alas I need to pay for a new heat pump.

I don't know . . . there's always blankets.  ::)

It's good to know that it will be going to a good home.

Well the heat pump is also the air conditioner.  I live in the south and its almost summer...it gets pretty hot here so I kind of need an air conditioner...I don't think extra blankets will help me in this situation.  I am getting by with window units right now but the system has to be replaced soon.

See, you learn something new everyday.  I always thought a heat pump was a regionalism for a furnace.

Sorry for the thread jack- I envy your mystery customer though.
