I was planning to have these sent to my local metal finisher anyways to have them polished up and prepped for plating. I am a bit surprised that there are 2 holes on the emitter? Seems a bit odd?

Nevertheless the price of the hilts were very reasonable and I was prepared to have to spend a little extra getting them in tip top shape.

But fingers crossed the 2 that I ordered are in slightly better shape than the ones you have there.

They aren't.  They are all very similar.  They are cast from the same mold after all ;).  I have 25 of them in hand and all are very similar.  They are rougher than a machined hilt, but that was to be expected.

Ah well. It's no harm. With how good value they were I have zero concerns.

It's nice in a way because everyone (bar the approved smiths) is going to tackle their duke differently. I have ideas in mind for mine when it arrives and it will be great to see all the build logs etc. for everyone else's. :)

Great job guys, ie. Keil and flowers!  Cutting the hilt to widen the diameter was a gutsy move!  8)

Now a Mini is possible!  ^-^

It wasn't an easy thing to make these so they would accept a Miniâ„¢, nor is it the cheapest option to have thia sort of work done, but definitely worth the end result I think.

I think we may even have a few MORE tricks up our sleeves.  ;)

Filling those "oddly placed" holes and relocating them to the spine is a great change. (Should have been there from the start IMO.)

Thanks SO MUCH for sharing your improvements. I just got my hilt today and was pretty irritated by just how much work is required just to make it presentable. I have no experience working with stainless steel and am not sure how much effort it will take to sand down the casting and tooling marks.
