New Year, New wishes - Now a Contest!!!
« on: December 29, 2009, 12:16:11 PM »
It's that time of year again!  All the Good Intentions! All the Resolutions! Out with the Old! In with the New!  I'm gonna be (better/more/less/) _______ than I was before! And I mean it this time!

So, let's hear:
or - What's your New Year's Resolution
or - How many years you've been resoluting ______
or - Why you mean it this time
or - Why you don't make them
or - What you Resoluted last year that you actually accomplished
or - What you learned from 2009 that you'll apply to 2010
or - anything at all that could apply to our Grand Olde Tradition of New Year's Resolutions.

Mine will follow.  I have to think of something.

oh hear hear!

I start school on the 19th, so I'm resoluting (yes, I know I made up that word!) to have a job as a medical coder by Thanksgiving.

I have been meaning to go back to school and/or find a way to make more money for years now, but after seeing my savings account constantly go in the wrong direction, I made a decision to find a way to make extra money, and enrolled in school before I could actually think of the myriad of reasons to not go.  Now it's too late to back out.  They have my $50 enrollment fee!  I can't let that go to waste!

The reason why? Well yes, there's the money, but also, I can do the Corporate World, but not gladly.  I can choose to be a cog in a great big machine, or I can choose to manage a doctor's office.  The point is, I'll be able to choose.  And I'll have one of them careers everyone goes on about.

THIS will enable me to 1) lead my life my way and 2) save for my future (because we all know that social security will go the way of the Do Do Bird by the time I hit my 70s)

Oh, and did I mention all the extra sabers I'll be able to buy?

I resolve to behave according to a code of conduct suitable for a gentleman, and to respect everyone around me's opinion. (Nice grammar eh?) I will only argue on valid, critical points. I also aim to have a little more responsibility around here as my information grows and to help out new members.

I also vow to be more honest, better behaved, and better skilled in many areas as we progress through this year. I promise to treat my female friends like ladies, and ot show them respect even when they make me mad. :D

I don't believe in NEW YEAR's resolutions because I feel that goal setting is something that should be done on a consistent basis. Here are some goals of mine:

BUSINESS & MARTIAL ARTS:

*Grow my school to 150 students
*Improve customer service and value
*Continue to offer programs that no other martial art school can match
*Continue to grow both my business and martial arts education

SABERS

*Complete LED Saber Academy Levels 2 & 3...as well as a "skills and drills" DVD.
*Buy a Vader's Vault saber...with an Oppression Stopping Purpliscious Purple   ;D
*Buy a JQ Sabers Hero  ;D
*Buy a Saberkit MKIII with a C.F.  ;D

MYSELF:

*Be the best husband and dad I can be to my wife and son
*Run a 1/2 marathon, as well as other 5 and 10K's

Ben, you're perfect just the way you are! You're one of the most giving, loving men I know!  Of course it would never hurt to spend more time with the little Lady though!

Last year I made the resolution to keep a job for at least a year. I didn't think I'd find one so fast, but about a week later I snagged a delivery job at Domino's. On January 7, 2010, I will have been employed with Domino's Pizza for 1 year. It's worked out great and I've also made some new friends along the way.

This year I'd like to finish the Mini Saber 1.5 and possibly make my first full size saber with sound. First though, I've GOT to get some stormtrooper armor and start trooping with the local 501st garrison.  ;D ;D

Not exactly resolutions, and all are personal... But I hope most of all that this coming year will bring about the change in my life Ive waited a long time for, and may happiness, joy and love continue to fill my life like it never has before. Next would be get back into gear and finish school in spring 2011 with an Associates degree...that will allow me to move on to the next step: Bachelor's degree in art. Last...get my friggin FemMando made and done!

Lose 15 lbs

Be a kinder, gentler wookie

Stop leaving droid arms all over the place.

Let "the other person" win every now and then

stop thinking with my stomach

Actually put more than 30 seconds of thought while naming Barris Offee's next saber

Stop sending Obi-Wan Kenobi pictures of creepy animals.

I think that about covers it.
