CFX no swing sounds
« on: November 12, 2019, 04:09:59 PM »
I have a weird issue.

I have a CFX that does not swing anymore. Power on, Power Off, Clash, Blaster, Music, Font Menu all works fine, but swings do not.

I opened up docklight and it keeps reading over and over w-sense<LF>
not sure that means anything.

I have loaded default card and everything except swings work.

you seem to have activated omnisabers in your configuration. I could be just config, check your hswing threshold and try the default package as well.
Finally, log the boot from the very beginning to check the sensor initialization or call the serial command initsensor.

Took me a while to get back to this, but I still have no swing sounds. I used an SD card out of a brand new board I purchased and still no swing sounds.

Any other thoughts?

If the clash works, would that mean the motion sensor is functioning? What are the chances something is wrong with the hardware?

most likely functioning. There is still a specific line to the sensor for the gyro that could make specifically the gyro to not work but I usually don't see this when the clash is working.

Do you think loading the most recent firmware might fix it?

like I said, you should first log the board from the boot to see if the sensor is properly initialized.
Obviously, pictures could help...

well it's pretty obvious, as the log says : max swing files found => 0
as for no smoothswing, your font config is probably not in SS mode (which should be mode 1 since you don't have any swing sounds)

I just checked all the font config files and smooth_mode is set to 1.

Any update or fix found? I just started having the same issue. Overnight my CFX started triggering swings and clashes while powered on but not being moved, a day later and it stopped making swing sounds all together. Every other function seems to work with the exception of recognizing swings. I tested other SD cards, tried new batteries (TrustFire and Panasonic) with full and not full charge. For grins I updated the FW which went swimmingly and added the new features, which also seem to work. Quite odd...

what does the log says about the motion sensor init ? Also, does it happen if you do a fresh boot (not aux. reboot)

The log shows the following...
Plecter Labs Crystal Focus<LF>
v 10.001 - 11/2019<LF>
Init Motion Sensor<LF>
WHO_AM_I_M = 3D - WHO_AM_I_XG = 68<CR><LF>
Success<LF>

Is this what you were looking for? I really appreciate the rapid response!

perfect (thank you). That confirms the proper detection of the (digital) comm with the sensor.
Before we look into this on the HW side, would you mind waiting a little so that 10.003 is ready. It fixes the issue I've detected for sensor not being initialized, usually BOTH of them (accel and gyro) but It's possible it's part of the same issue when just the gyro fails.
Based the manufacturing process which is now ironed out it's interesting to find out if your case (or the "missing gyro" cases) can be fixed with the stronger init method or not.

10.003 is coming really soon but even if not populated with everything I want inside, I might just release a milestone so you can test and see if that fixes the issue.

I don't mind waiting at all, I have other projects to work on. Even with this small hiccup, its been enjoyable learning about the board and running through the diagnostic steps. Thanks again for the quick reply. I will await further updates.
