Are there actually fonts up to purchase right now?

im getting the same thing. can see the headings in the middle section (font name creator name etc) but the rest of the middle is black

no.. the DP links are the way for us to 'get' the fonts you are submitting,..to review them.

I've tried a few things, changing out some security protocols on my web browser as well as enabling/disabling a few things, still can't get the previews to load.

Seriously, thanks to XL97 and Vaders Vault for taking on the task of making this happen. And thanks to Nova, Erv and all the others involved.
I plan to have all my latest fonts available at saberfont.com in the coming months... and one or two new ones in the works.

no the PC is at 22050 & the CF is at 48000 thats what i got told so i have a PC & put sound fonts on at 22050 & than are fine so hope that hleps :)
There are .raw format fonts for older CF versions. There are CF5 format fonts which have all necessary files for use on the V5, and there are PC format fonts for easy use on the PC. We separated the CF5 and PC fonts for the sole reason that not everyone who will be buying fonts is a member of the forums and properly educated on what files wont be used by the PC. We didn't want any confusion as to why they weren't getting certain sounds out of their saber. Of course, most people here know that you can just get the CF5 fonts and use only what you need from the font for a PC. However, the saber buying public is much bigger than these forums and we wanted a seamless and painless experience for all customers.
Question. When buy fonts from the site, do they come with configuration files as well?
@Machinimax and Sa'vage Achanas: No they do not. They are soundfonts. You get the config files with whichever soundcard you buy in the default package or default font. Just copy, paste ;). It is always a good idea to back up any soundfont you have on any SD card before you change it and you should always back up your default.

One of our ideas for a future upgrade is an online configuration file editor. A lot of this is also solved by using the RICE editor which will start becoming more of a standard saber feature in coming months.
We are working on the preview files all, to see if we can come up with more of a universal solution as we know some people are having problems viewing them.

Some of the more obscure fonts will, indeed be appearing as time goes on as well as existing fonts from other fontmakers, for example Shadelinger. We started with a good selection of proven fonts and a manageable number. We didn't want to crash the system right off the bat :D. As we get bugs worked out, we will be adding fonts such as those as well as, hopefully, new fonts that are currently under development.
Our vision is to have the site sort of be a community co-op, where members of the community who want to try their hand at font making can also submit their fonts. We hope to have fonts from many different makers in the current months as well as new fonts from Novastar and Madcow.

(Yes, I get that this is a thread about the new saberfont website. No, I'm not trying to steal anyone's thunder. Yes I understand that people telling others about the issues will help to debug the new site. BUT if you want to buy a font and can't get a good preview of it, knowing where to look until the issue is resolved can be incredibly helpful.)

Just a quick question. Does every sound have to be mixed with the main hum for the CF to use it correctly? If so, my job just got really hard :(

It is only OK to use their "stuff" if you are doing it for your personal use, not to distribute in any fashion . Keep that in mind and you'll be fine .
@Link, thats a tricky one, as you have no way of knowing where in the loop a swing/clash will be triggered. That's generally where it works to actually have the end of the hum mixed in to your sound, but have it faded out in the very begining of the sound. So when it ends the loop picks back up and sounds even. Take a clash for example. It'll usually work out to not have the hum in the very begining as the clash is loud enough that it would have overrode the hum sound in any case. Fade the hum back in at the loudest point of the clash sound so as the clash lowers in volume the hum takes over and then flows seamlessly back into the loop.

I wouldn't mind helping at all, however, I just had a serious car accident last night and am hip deep in the middle of all the aftermath. In a week or so things might be calmed down a bit more. :)

If the browser/software of choice works for you, helps your work flow.... then I see no problems.

There is a list of things we are looking for on the site. There are only a few of us testing so we get to them as soon as we can in the order they were received :).
I just bought 6 fonts including , Ancient Saber, Korriban, TFU Starkiller , Vader, & Revenge, for the PC, I was wondering when it comes to fonts on a Petit crouton, to change fonts, can you have multiples on one card & be able to switch them ? or do you need to have a micro card for each font? Also does the rice support system allow fonts to be loaded into the saber? I know some newby questions here, I'm just about to finish installing my 1st PC into my copper katana & am very excited to fire it up with these great fonts!!

Well actually I do have an idea for something that is on the lines of Outcast and Academy. I was thinking of making a Stormtrooper lightsaber font. Instead of the tradition saber blocks, each clash sound would feature a body strike sound and the death cry of a stormtrooper. The sounds I have were extracted from Academy. I figured it would be something fun and a little different than the traditional saber fonts. It think it might be my next font project after KOTOR.There's a decent amount of that in my "Age of Battle" font, if ya like! :)

Bought 4 fonts from the site. Everything worked great. :)More than half of the fonts i bought on saberfont either didn't come with boot file or menu file and sometimes missing both menu and boot file for CFv5 fonts. How can i fix this?
1 small issue, though. I didn't see a menu file ( the file that says the name of the font ) for 2 of the 4 fonts.
The 2 without menu files were Crystalline Workshop & Rain Sizzle. Anyone else have this happen?

Using Goldwave or soundforge will allow you to convert your .wav files to .raw to work with CF 4.x and lower.
There is a video tutorials by Novastar's Soundfont on CD1 on how to do this.
There may be a thread somewhere on the forums as well.

Man, there are so many new fonts as well as new font makers out now and I am just lost.
Almost too many fonts to choose from these days. Too many choices.
I guess that is a good problem to have though.
I guess I need to try some of these new fonts in my customs soon.

its up to the font creator to market/describe the font as he/she wishes.
• Existing sound fonts currently on the market will work fine for Igniter™ with some slight modifications. You need to do the following three things to the file to get them working:
o Run a high-pass filter at 100Hz to eliminate really low frequencies. Igniter™’s on-board Digital to Analog Conversion (DAC) doesn’t like these low frequencies.
o Run a compressor to get more volume out of the sound, minimizing the peaks of the file.
o Change the volume so that the max is between 55-65% for the hum, 95% for all other sounds including font.wav. This allows the best volume mixing for TruMixâ„¢ with Auto-Compressing Technologyâ„¢ when it mixes the sounds .
I’d add a note that it has been tested and confirmed that all fonts for the PC/CF have been tested as working on Igniter with no additional modifications beyond changing the file naming conventions

Why wouldn't a font maker buy another font maker's fonts? Sabersmiths buy other sabersmith's works all the time. ;)

Hey guys. We've had some delays getting fonts up on Saberfont the last couple of months due to the holidays and other DRL issues as well as a whole bunch of new font submissions to wade through.
As we are getting caught back up, we noticed some fonts are being submitted for PC only. At this point, it makes more sense to have full fonts submitted with all the extra sounds so that they are compatible with all Plecter Products. That way a user can enjoy them if they have a Nano, Crystal Shard, Petit Crouton, or CF. Remember, the boards will "take what they need" for files, so build your fonts with enough sounds for CF and everything else will follow. Even if you do not have a CF for testing, the files can be tested on your PC you will just have to alternate. A bit more work, yes, but doable :). Don't forget, we accept submissions for Naigon's Electronic Creations Products as well.
Also, menu sound is required for all formats. Something that announces the font. Otherwise it makes it difficult to keep track of the font when it is on the saber :D.
I want to say I have a bunch of new and exciting fonts in my in box both from existing font makers and new font makers! :D Keep up the good work guys! We also have some oldies but goodies coming from Novastar that have been previously unavailable on Saberfont.com so stay tuned!!! As always, we will post here, as well as tweet when they become available.

silly question? all of the plecter fonts say PC2.0+... what about those of us with PC 1.x? will they still work? i have a 1.6 and i really want to try some new fonts. thanks!
Yes, they will work, you'll just have to only copy the files that are pertinent for the PC 1.x (8 swings, 8 clashes, poweron, poweroff, lockup, blaster, boot). There are sound quality differences between the 1.x and 2.0+ but the fonts will work. Also, any Plecter font can be used on a 1.x. So even fonts for CF will work, you'll just have to manually pick which of the files you want to fill the need of the 1.x.

All font submissions go through a screening process. That can talke some time but due to other updates that are being worked on, Those times may be extended a little.
Vader's Vault are the folks that run Saberfont and Have quite a lot on there plate with running that business, saberfont & there own personal lives (kids etc..)
I would urge all newcomers to please have some patients as right now there are abnormally longer wait times due to the above stated.
I can attest to the fact that VV is on top of things and very much want to get these fonts rolling out for all of us :). Thanks!

I finally got around to buying my first couple of fonts from your website and for the most part the core functionality seems okay but I can't help thinking it's still a far cry from where it should be by now.. I don't know who does the web development but I'd be more than happy to give them a few pointers where it should be improved for a better user experience.
