My custom made X-wing Pilot helmet
« on: December 02, 2010, 08:23:14 AM »
Hi guys,

I'm new here but I wanted to show you what I've been doing the last few months.
My very own custom designed x-wing helmet:

What do you guys think?

Yes I have, but I don't have the means to make my own ABS vacuum formed base helmets. If you provide me with one, I'm willing to put it together and paint it in a custom design, the way I did mine. I have an extra base helmet, unpainted, but it's to small for my head (I do have a big head  :-[ )

I'm willing to paint him up and put him up for sale.

I've got the same problem. I have an unpainted jedi mickey's helmet that fits, but man is that thing tight enough to about pop my eyes out of my head. Going to buy another one from someone else on the RL to see if its any bigger. I've been worrying when I do get the helmet how to get it painted well so may inquire on having you do that for me when I get one :)

I know what you mean Darth_Guis, I also have a spare Mickey Helmet. I plan on selling him again, I think this helmet is very nice, but way to small for grown male heads. I think it would be perfect for female x-wing pilots or men with smaller heads.

To answer the question, I bought my kit(s) on the Rebel Legion forums. Can't remember the maker's name though...

Mr Bojangles just came out with a new one and I've talked to darthhair about getting parts that sells helmets as well. Was it either of those two?

No, my kit was older. It's been sitting on my attic, catching dust for ages!

This is pretty sweet! I love the paint job! Is it comfy?

WOW!  :o  Very nice.  Have you thought about weathering it or are you going to keep it new looking?  Both would look great.

I wonder what my first officers would think if I started wearing this when we fly.  :D  Red Five Standing by.

Yeah, It's pritty comfy. I had to measure and try with al lot of diffirent types of foam to get it this comfy, but now I'm happy with it.

Concerning the weathering, if you look at the photo's more closely, you can see I allready weathered it quite a bit. I did some miner "paint chipping" and dust and dirt with paint. I don't plan on weathering him more, 'cause that would start to look weird I think.

Wow.  It looks pretty clean in the pics.  I was thinking weathering along the lines of Luke's helmet.
