Here's a comparison pic of the Vader ANH 2007 and half of a Maul.

A note:  The batteries for both aren't new but they're at the same life span and yes my Maul does have blotchyness to it.  You can see that the Vader is definitely brighter.

Edit: I know they look a bit orange but they are not.  I just posted a picture of how it looks like with the brigthness setting lowered to show more of their truer colors.  YES these are my pictures.  I took these sabers out just for this.

soo..................what guys are sayin is that the Maul is not as bright as the Vader esb. :'(.
I don't know wat to get anymore:
What i want from a FFX is:
-BRIGHT blade
-Durable blade
-Nice hilt-doesn't get much fingerprints on it-(unlike my Ani ROTS >:()
-Easy to spin with-LOL-I know the Full Maul and the Battle Damaged Maul are not great for spinning-but i still want one
And last but not least
-Fells great to hold! ;)

the maul is plenty easy to spin in staff mode. it's just when you split it that it sucks.

my vader and maul are the same brightness with no blotchyness when there are fresh batteries in both.
if the batteries aren't both fresh, it's unfair cause a AAA setup drains faster than a AA setup

the maul has a durable blade, and i don't have a fingerprint on it to date, and i've had it for almost a year now  :o

If you're a Maul type of guy judging from your siggy and avatar, then I'd get the full Maul if I were you.  However if you really want a good balanced single bladed saber get the Vader either ANH or ESB which ever you perfer.

Nice Pic, Mr. BigT. ;)

Lord Clueless.....unless you were latex gloves, you're gonna get fingerprints on the saber. That is a fact of life. I'll tell you right away, you'll be happy regardless.

Do this.....

Close your eyes and empty your mind. Now which saber pops into your head?

That is what you intial want is and maybe go with that one. Remember, these sabers will always be out there. Just shop around. Rational thinking....that's why you have it.

Trust you gut, buddy. That's why it is there.

I would really appreciate that!!!!!!!!!
My friend-Vaders Apprentice, said that a guy in Queensland said to him-(he's a family friend or something) that there are force fx's in a place called toyworld. I live in NSW, so i'm not gonna drive up all that way-although i could order it from them if they have a website.
Don't know if that helps you.

P.S:When he saw them, it was like 3 years ago-so may not be there............The sabers he saw were Luke ANH/ESB and Darth Vader ANH/ESB-dont know exactly-so ask Vaders' Apprentice if you want any info.

Thx! ;D

Actually come to think of it Aluke is right with good batteries (recommended either the Energizer Lithiums or Duracell Ultras), the Maul is pretty bright.  Also Aluke is right the AAA betteries do drain faster than the AA's.  I noticed this when I would play with my Maul (just using one) and Anakin a lot and my Maul drained quicker than my Anakin.

Honestly Lord Clueless, if you want a kick butt saber get the full Maul staff if you can afford it (since it's about $200 if you get the full staff).  Having the Maul saber as an FX saber was one thing I always wished MR would do and now that they have made it I have not regretted buying it at all.  By the way here are pictures from my initial review of the Maul which did have brand new batteries in it at the time.  I will have to get some new batteries sometime and do some comparison photos of the blades.
