Initium Novum; Petit Crouton 1.5 Saber; Remastered Epoch

Initium Novum
A New Beginning

This saber started its' life as a SaberForge Epoch I received from a fellow forum member. Every inch of the saber has been altered in some way. This is no show queen saber, this is a true Jedi weapon. The blade extends into the emitter a full 5 inches so it is, to say the least, dual-able.

This saber has a bit of a back story, my wife is working on for me. To make a long story short, this saber was taken from a stricken down Sith Lord by Ducos Rossis. In the battle, his saber was damaged so he altered the Sith's weapon with usable parts from his saber to suit his needs. Hence the name, Initium Novum (A New Beginning). Any ways... on to the goodies!!!

- Heavily Modified SaberForge Epoch Hilt
- Custom Machined Forked Emitter Shroud
- Custom Blade Plug/Crystal Chamber (with "compressed" green crystal)
- Drilled Emitter Holes
- Brass and Aluminum Set Screws
- Weathered Choke and Emitter
- 2 Brass Button-Head Screws (with the centers drilled out to allow light to shine through)
- Custom Brass Tubing on Choke
- Black Weathered Button-Head Screws (to attach choke/emitter to hilt)
- Yellow T1 LED/holder (mounted before box)
- Activation Box Style 2 (with 7 slots machined into it to match the radiator section)
- SPST Green Ring Short AV Switch
- Red Momentary AUX Switch
- Recharge Port/Kill-Key
- Brass Covertech Knob
- MPS Pommel Insert #6 (mounted on custom pommel w/5mm LED holder mounted on it to alow easy removal of pommel to access PC-L sd card)
- Custom "Journeymen" Weathering (with birchwood casey aluminum black)
- PC-L Lightmeat Font (running a "compressed crystal")  ;)
- Luxeon Rebel Cyan Bin 3 (minty green) Running at 1A
- Rebel Lens Holder
- 8.7 Degree Lens
- TCSS Heatsink Mounted via 3 Hidden Setscrews
- 7.4v 900mah Lithium-Ion Pack with Custom PCB
- TCSS Speaker Holder V2
- TCSS Premium Speaker
- Large feedback motor

O yea... and dont forget the CUSTOM broken tap in the emitter shroud that now holds it in place, LOL.  :D

Everything on this saber has been a "go with the flow" kind of attitude. Essentially, I let the Force guide me on the construction of this saber. And I'd say it worked out well! Some ideas came from various influences such as the k3gr1 and slothfurnace's work. I'm sure it's apparent who's stuff influenced me; and to those people... thank you for doing what you do. Ok enough chat... SHOW ME THE GOOD STUFF!!!!

And also, thanks to my wife, Koyi'una, for the photo-editing and posting my pics for me all the time!! (I can build a saber out of junk but i can post my own pics, lol.)

excellent , i wish you had shown your internal solution to this design however the blade plug is shown in full and it really is a great use of existing  parts... brilliant.

Nice!

The k3gr1 has inspired many builds.

It took me a minute to figure out your blade plug and how far the blade inserts. Pretty deep down in there.

excellent , i wish you had shown your internal solution to this design however the blade plug is shown in full and it really is a great use of existing  parts... brilliant.

Internally i kept it very simple, the pc is stacked ontop of the pack just behind the actavation box. All wiring is 26awg ribbion cable except the power, main led and recharge port. All the wires are bundled under the activation box. every wire has some kind of quick connector on it (all salvaged from various electronics) for instance the av swich has 4 connections going to it so is has a 4 pin micro connector, and the main led is on a jst connecter, the yellow accent led is on a 2 pin micro connector etc.... The pc is hot glued onto the pack, The pack is held in place by the covertech knob bolt. The pommel is held on with a set screw removing the set screw you pull out the pommel/speaker combo and it has about 4 inches of wire so it can be put off to the side while accessing the sd card. all the electronics are contained in the bottom "hilt" section everything from the choke up is blade holder. I really wanted this saber to be very easy to service and in that aspect i can completly dissasemble the saber in about 10 min or so.

It is a nice looking saber, but i wanted to make a saber that covers all bases, not only does it look "good" or "expensive" but it is very durable... so if my kids get a hold of it i dont have to worry about glued parts falling off or things getting knocked loose inside it, or something breaking if dropped. I just dont have to worry about it getting scratched or dirty... cause it is already  ;D

I look at some other sabers and im like "wow that is gorgeous, shinny, elegant, EXPENSIVE saber" then i think about how i would feel if i  had dropped it or my kids ninja-ed it out of my room and threw it "there goes $1500-$2000. So my aim was to essential to "be a jack of all trades but a master of none" and i feel as if i hit the money on that with this saber..

The blade plug idea came to me when i was thinking about doing a visible crystal chamber and decided well if it was right there in the window section when the blade is on you wouldn't see the chamber anyways so i figured it would make a really cool blade plug. It is a piece of blade material with the window cut out, a green synthetic crystal, a 5mm led holder, a motor stator on top, and a brass stand off as the emitter prong.

    Thanks Everyone
