New trailer/special look dropped a couple days ago. Looks cool. New hilt designs, simple, yet also cool.
What does everyone think? Excited to see more Star Wars Anime?
-
Can't exactly say I'm interested, but that's mainly because me and anime have never gotten along.
Still, new hilts, I guess?

I am cautiously optimistic. I did come up on anime and manga. That Masahiko Otsuka will be making this his final work (although we've heard that sort of thing before) is really intriguing.
I'm not expecting to be STAR WARS, but star wars. This is the sort of sandboxing that can be enjoyable (unlike, say, major canon pieces...).
These things are often hit or miss. I believe there are 9 episodes intended: I would expect 3 of them to be worth watching, 3 to be pretty fine to have on in the background, and 3 to be utterly skippable.

What thunder said.

I would have been all over this... if this was 2014 or earlier. Since TLJ though been pretty deflated... and my eyebrow is raised at anything Disney related lately.

You down on Mando Anthony?

It's really good.
Highly recommended for the lightsaber designs alone, they're amazing. :lamp: I want to make every one of them.

Well, I've seen it now. Can't exactly say I thought much of it, but as I said before, I'm not an anime person, so I'm not the target demographic for it. The new sabers were interesting, but overall, too katana-like for my particular taste. I mean, I guess that was to be expected, given the Japanese-inspired nature of the whole Visions project, but I think that from a design/visual language standpoint, they went a little too far on the whole lightsaber/katana balance for my taste.
That said, I think they got that balance right in The Elder episode, with the Jedi and his Padawan looking distinctly Jedi-like and the Elder Sith with a more Japanese look and unique fighting style.
I have to begrudgingly admit that I liked The Ninth Jedi's depiction of lightsaber mechanics. I'm not a massive fan of the new canon rules on how lightsaber blade colours work. The whole "lightsaber blades change colour depending on the user's personality and sith blades are red because the kyber crystal is bleeding in pain from the Dark Side" feels much more daft and convoluted than "crystals have colours, you can swap them at a workbench."
Actually seeing the new canon idea explored properly and applying it in mid-fight during the Ninth Jedi worked surprisingly well and gave the idea a lot more depth than I expected. I'd be actually interested if they could incorporate that into something live action in the future. It'd make for a great foreshadowing effect if a jedi's blade slowly shifted colour over the course of a trilogy, for instance.
The less said about the lightsaber parasol, the better.
