Gentle Giant Vader Bust
« on: April 02, 2006, 06:08:55 AM »
I have just bought a Gentle Giant Darth Vader ROTS Bust on E-Bay.
Here are some pics of him from the GG website:

I have wanted it since I first saw one, but refused to pay nearly £50 :o ($87 US) for one, which is what my local collectables store is asking for it.
I paid £9.55 ($16.59 US) for mine, and although I paid £8 ($13.90 US) for postage, which is a bit steep, I still think I got a really good deal.
I can't wait till he arrives and couldn't resist sharing my enthusiasm with you guys. ;D
He will take pride of place on top of the TV.

GG make a large range of these kind of busts, most of which are excellent in accuracy of detail.
Here is a link to the website were you can browse the whole line: http://www.gentlegiantltd.com/catalog/?id=8
The Tarkin and Dooku busts, in particular, have a superb likeness of the character.
The next one on my list, however, is the Sandtrooper Squad Leader. ;)

All in all I am really thrilled with my purchase, and am pleased with the amount I paid for him.
I just got a lucky bid, that's all.  ;D I thoroughly expected to be outbid at the last minute, but it appears that no one else was watching.
Why can't I find MR products at low prices like this? Just too popular, I guess.
I am now waiting by the front door practicing the Jedi art of patience while I wait for him to arrive. ::)

I thought the same thing.
The  Ewan style Obi Wan one they do isn't a very good likeness, IMO.
An good Alec Guiness likeness would be superb. :)

So would I. :)
But only if it was a convincing sculpt.
I wonder which they will make next.
Maybe they will bring out some ANH busts for the 30th anniversary. ;D
They haven't done a Chewie, 'Farmboy' Luke, Ben or 'White Princess Gown' Leia yet. :'(
Or an R2, although there is an excellent 3PO.

There are a few weak ones, but all in all I really like this series of busts.
Strong in the force are they, more of them do I see in my own future. ;)

My Vader hasn't arrived yet,BTW. :'(
I guess I'll have to go and drool over the pics of DTs one until he does.
xxx the Royal Mail. >:(

I just looked on the GG website and found that they do make a Ben 'Bust-up'.
He's very small but looks pretty cool, he's even got ragged edges to his robe.
I am tempted.
