That's cool, it's always good to see them experimenting with different componds to make different colors.  Now, if only they would figure what materials to combine to generate purple light.

With lux led its a gas that when heated up produces the color. theres no gas that makes a purple or a yellow.

Read that from ultras faq on there site.

it's not that there isn't a gas that makes that color, it's that they haven't discovered what gas makes that color.

I dontknow ultras site said(last time I read it) that there wasent a gas.

Right now, there isn't one that we know of.  The article states "new phosphor from semiconductor nanocrystals of cadmium sulfide mixed with manganese." which is used to make a cleaner white color.  There probably is some other combination out there that nobody has found yet that will produce a purple (or yellow) color.  I just hope that there is enough demand for new colors for somebody to dump some more money into research.  Unfortunately, while there might be a market for a pure white LED, the market for a Purple LED just isn't nearly as big.  No demand = no money in it = no research = no purple LEDs  :(

Meh if I wanted a purple setup I would use do-clos setup that he has. It works and theres no science involved.
