I bought a red MR Vader light saber a few months ago and just got the new ROTJ Luke lightsaber at Borders.  I was hesitant to duel with them until I saw the MR video of the choreographed duel, so I have played around (lightly) with the sabers.   After reading some of the posts on this site - I am again hesitant to play around with them too much.  My question is - how much dueling can you do with these without damaging the electronics ??  Lightly, not at all???

They are very durable as stated; however, you may get scratches on it if you hit TOO HARD with it.

Hey, I'm new.  I got a few questions...  would you guys recommend buying one online or at a retail store like Best Buy?  Also, if the one I got from Best Buy has some problems, would I be able to exchange it without much hassle?  thanks in advance.  I've been wanting the Anakin ROTS lightsaber for a while now....

well at a store is better because u can try it and check if it works urself

The other thing about buying in a store is that you can easily return it if it doesn't work (assuming there are more in stock).  But buying it online makes it a little harder to do returns, not to mention you have to pay for all the shipping involved.  If you want to pay a little less but with the risk that you'd have to pay more for a return or exchange, then go online.  You can also buy it straight from Master Replicas, who will pay for return shipping if you need to exchange it; you'd have to pay for initial shipping, but you're also definitely covered by their warranty.

Otherwise, if you'd rather not take any chances, I'd recommend buying it at a store.  With all the coupons that Borders has out, you could get a lightsaber there for a pretty good price; and if something breaks, you can go right back and exchange it (or return it if you simply don't like it).  That, and it has the quickest shipping available. :)

Well if you can find a store that has them and let's to test it before buying?
I'd certainly do that :o

But I've bought all mine on line and they've been in good condition, some plain excellent ;)
But no doubt they are all not created equal... some batches of sabers are built with more
care by thier assemblers than others, it would appear.

I've purchased plenty of sabers online and retail. Mostly online except for my Luke ROTJ's which I tormented the local Borders for until they let me have them early ;D

I will say that retail is nice at a place like Borders because if you get one that has operational problems or serious cosmetic flaws, you can exchange it.

But....Master Replicas has an awesome customer service dept. I have had to return 2 sabers out of the many I've purchased. One had a bad LED and one had a messed up hilt that I just wasn't saisfied with. On both occasions, they replaced them without a hint of hesitancy and I actually had my replacement sets in hand BEFORE i got to fedex to ship the defective ones back. MR also pays shipping for the return and the replacement set so you are only out a few minutes to pack the bad one up. If buying online, especially on ebay, make sure you are buying from an authorized MR dealer because if you don't, you could wind up stuck with a defective saber and no way to get it replaced. MR only honors the warranty if purchased through an authorized dealer.

Lastly, watch out for ebay deals that look too good to be true. There are some serious crooks running scams for the FX sabers on ebay. If you are not sure, post the auction here and the good folks on the board will guide you. Also, contact the seller through ebay and ask if they are authorized MR.

Good Luck!

thanks a lot guys.  I'm going to try and see if any Best Buy's around me (I live near 3) have them, the website said they have them available in store (supposedly).  but if not, I'm definetly getting it from MR.  I'll be sure to take pictures when I get it!

Yes,

My original Mace saber I bought had a very unstable blade.

They replaced it free of charge.

Look for a Borders Books near you. They have been well stocked lately and I posted a 20% off coupon in the questions/comments section.

the only thing wrong with going direct to MR is the long waiting times, they seem to service the other online retailers before they service buyers buying direct from their own websites.  i cancelled my anakin ROTS with them and got it from play.com.  it doesnot matter to MR of course because they are still making cash on the sale.

Well, it took them 1 month and 3 days to replace my original MAce saber, which wasn't bad at all!

The Mace Windu is pretty cool. My friend has it. There are some bugs tho. It looks more like a light blue, but from far awaty (like a block) it looks purple. Also my other friend tried his and while dueling kept accidently switching it on and off because of were the switch is placed. But I didn't have a problem. Other than that it is great. It is very bright, loud, and has great sounds.

Yeah I agree the Mace is a great saber.  If you live near a Gamestop store and they have the sabers, I would go there and try it out, they should have one for display.  That is why I have one I was sold on the display

Yeah, I grabbed it at Best Buy. I showed it to my friends at work today and the lady I work with liked it so much she bought one as a chrsitmas present for her boyfriend. I took her to the store to get it, and I was so tempted to go ahead and grab the ROTS Anakin, but I had to resist the dark side. The jedi (wife at home) would kill me in the name of the republic if I had bought another one already.

Hello all, I'm new to FX sabers.  I just got home with a 2005 Luke ROTJ saber and have two questions:

1: How can something possibly exist that is this cool? (I say this while holding it in my hands, lit up.) I mean, am I dreaming? It's like all of my thoughts and dreams from my childhood have all combined together to form one single item of shinning, bright, beautiful Pwnage. o_O

2: How do I fend off the misses who thinks I'm insane to have spent $108 (including all the tax, MSRP $99) on this? How can she understand how much of a necessity my saber is?  Or rather, how can she be made to understand?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to FX-Sabers my friend and I have but this piece of wisdom to offer, the force works in mysterious ways.....

2: How do I fend off the misses who thinks I'm insane to have spent $108?
Use the force and use it for knowledge and defence, never for attack. The answers and the force will flow thru you when you are at peace and calm and controlled.
Also, look at this way an FX has more practical and fun use then say an LE cause it actually does something and is just a damned cool and affordable collectable.

Thanks in advance.

Hi I'm new here...I just got my first Force FX Lightsaber yesterday, it's a Vader ESB, and I'm really hooked now on the whole saber thing. I'm from Sweden and we don't have alot of choices, domestic, where we can buy the sabers. The store where I bought mine only had Vader ESB and Anakin ROTS, and I paid 130 $ for mine on discount.
I had no idea that the saber community was so big and that there are so many builders, commercial and private, all around the world. I am really impressed by how many enthusiasts there are, and the pride the builders put in their work. My next step now is saving to buy a custom built, I have browsed the different websites and I'm really overwhelmed by all the different manufactors and the technical aspects of it. I have a question about my saber if anyone cares to answer it: There's sometimes, really often I have to say, delay in the sound when I swing it....sometimes no sound at all...if I swing really hard it mostly works. Is this common in the MR sabers?? And which on of the MR's has the best reaction time?? Grateful for any help. Now I'm off to practice some saber swings....my girlfriend hates it....I have already destroyed one vase and a lamp...that hang from the ceiling....*don't ask*.......

Cheers

In your other thread, I recommended the Obi-Wan. But if your still stuck...there is one way to make the decision if you can't do it by making up your mind :

Take a quarter, decide which side (heads or tails) will represent the Obi-Wan and Mace. Then, flip it in the air and let it land and whichever side it lands on, get that saber first. :D

I've used that method quite a few times myself Joclad. I'm just glad I chose "heads" on my Obi-Wan/Luke ESB decision a while back! ;)

I eventually bought a Luke ESB anyway... :D

Hey, I don't have any fx sabers, but I would like to know...

1. Can you hit them hard?
2. Can you take out the rod?
3. Can you let them drop?
4. How can you clean the hilt?
Title: Re: New to Force FX Lightsabers?

Welcome to the forum Starwarsnerdy.  I think you will find many friendly folks here that are willing to help.  As a padawan you should be able to find most answers to your questions in the padawan section in the link below.  That way we don't clutter up the forum with the same questions over and over.  But I feel your pain man as I was a padawan 7 months ago.  It sometimes is difficult to find all the answers you are looking for so if you get stuck please by all means ask away.

As for your questions here is a link in the pad section regarding hilt cleaning.

http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=568.0

As far as durability the fx line can take light dueling but any serious dueling should be reserved for a lux conversion as this is a stronger option if you reaaly want to wack away at stuff.  Hard hits risk damaging the led lights in the blade.  Yoda actually has a blade rating somewhere in here that gives an idea what you can expect to get out of certain blades.

As far as taking out the rod I assume you mean the polyblade tube?  Yes they can be taken out but, and I may be wrong here only for conversions.  I seem to remember hearing that you forcibly take them out.  So not quite sure about how to reattach them like before.  But if you are going to do a lux conversion then don't worry as you will get all the parts required to reattach the blade with a set screw.

Again welcome
Title: Re: New to Force FX Lightsabers?
Post by: Jedi Farmboy on July 20, 2007, 12:19:59 AM
Although, Starwarsnerdy, to add to that, I have been dueling with all mr stock MR fx sabers for over a year now and they are still in good working order, but its not ideal. They will get scratched and bashed up if you drop them though
Title: Re: New to Force FX Lightsabers?
Post by: darthmorbius on July 20, 2007, 02:40:00 AM
To add to the durability issue. It depends on what kind of surface they happen to hit, or what part of the hilt.

With your line of specific questioning, it sounds to me like you are planning on using them as film props. That is just an assumption though, and we all know about those! ;D

One place you REALLY don't want the saber to land is on the pommel end or blade tip, perpendicular to the surface. My original Anakin ROTS got messed up pretty badly when that happened. Although I think hitting concrete didn't help things any. ::) When it hit, the endcap got bent and became a pain to get off. It also damaged the speaker and battery holder pins.

In that case, good luck in your ventures on film/digital media. :)

Just remember, take it all with a grain of salt. A bit of whimsical nature is needed to keep the pressures of filmmaking at bay, and it shows in your work as a positive result! Have fun!

See you around the forums! ;)

To start... http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=3828.0 (http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=3828.0)

That's Master Anakin Skywalker's tutorial index, it's very good!

His DVD is available here: http://www.eitsrc.com/closeup.asp?cid=38&pid=112&offset=0 (http://www.eitsrc.com/closeup.asp?cid=38&pid=112&offset=0)

This is the main index for the dueling section: http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?board=14.0

There is a treasure trove of useful technique there! Also, check out Kit Fisto's vids. Most can be seen on youtube under the member Jedi Archives.

Another thing to consider is that the vader sabers take a little getting used to prior to spinning with them due to the activation control box's location, and the shroud.

Hope this helps! :)

Be careful with the spinning don't drop it or throw it to hard!

electroluminescent  blades, basically not an led but an el wire.

Check this out.

They use a stereo type jack for the blade.  I think most will go for the luxeon over el as it is more user friendly?

Hello everyone, im somewhat new, even though I have a converted mace windu and a few lightsabers awaiting conversions. I have seen the site in its infanccy to now, but one thing that is gone is a big picture of the available colors for conversions. I cant seem to find it. I am wanting to send in a few sabers but I cant compare colors anymore. Also, can the original anakin AOTC be converted? Thanks.

A friendly "Hello" to all from a newbie located in germany.

I´m Guido a 38 years old dad of 3 wonderfull kids and a member of the 501st. German Garrison. I´m into Star Wars since the beginning and into Star Wars props and costumes for about 15 years now I think. Besides Star Wars I´m also a big Batman fan and lot´s of others interresting movie charackters. So as you saw I have 3 kids and my oldest one my son is also a big Star Wars fan and so what do you think he´s also in costumeing like me. Here is a pic from me and my son last summer here in our city to help a friend who has a Star Wars toy shop.

(https://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv431%2FStormtrooper4140%2FP50500602.jpg&hash=3487e563598f15868fc2a926fb7dbfa86c10382e)

So I think that´s enough to start here with some infos about me lol.

Greetings Guido

Hi Guido, and hello to everyone on here

I've just got my first FX sabers (a yoda and a Vader ANH) and love them both.  I'm now buying components to build my own luxeon 3W.

Are there many UK members on here? There doesn't seem to be as many saber owners here which is a shame as it means there are hardly any sabersmiths either.  Hilt and blade parts are hard to source without importing them from the US.  It would also be good if there was ever a UK meet to get out and spin the saber in public instead of in my lounge when my wife is out!

The UK members on TCSS got together in early December. They are planning another meet during the summer, I think.

I'm a newbie here, and though I tried using the search feature to look for answers to my questions, I find myself a bit overwhelmed by all the different forums and seemingly infinite number of threads. So I'll just throw it out here and hope that a kind master will point me in the right direction.

I have five standard Force FX lightsabers, but I want to make a duelable  Qui-Gon Jinn saber. I've seen Rob Petkau's amazing and (literally) unique Qui-Gon Jinn saber, and he was kind enough to tell me where to find to find the plans (http://www.sitharchives.com/) and give me some other tips.

I'm reasonable handy with things mechanical, but by no means an engineer. Rather than try to build one from scratch, what I'm thinking of is buying an FX Construction Set and using the hilt to build a reasonable facsimile of a Qui-Gon saber (with a strong, bright blade).

First, I'd like to know what more experienced tinkerers think of this idea. Second, and this is real basic, could someone tell me the exact dimensions of the Construction Kit's hilt (in its naked state)?

Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Hello Mr,. Thorn, and welcome to the FX Sabers Forums Galaxy!

You have come to the right place my friend! Regarding the SW-616 Lightsaber construction kit:

I would recommend checking out this link: http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=9422.0 (http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=9422.0)

The topic author, Grayven has been working on making the "Joe Jedi" kit do some pretty cool and interesting things.  The guys that are poting up over there in the later pages are all experimenting with different aspects of the kit.  The entire topic is a great read for those seeking knowledge on the SW-616.

Id recommend checking it out and possibly contacting one of the fellows there about any type of measurements you could need. Plus perhaps a little advice on how to approach your desired effect. Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to actually delve into one of these sabers yet, but I hope to in the near future.

Once again, Welcome, and enjoy your stay with us!

Hi Everyone, name is Marcus and I am a Newbie

I live in Ontario and I am wondering if it is best to buy the new Hasbro FX in Buffalo NY as I am very close. Does anybody know where in Buffalo? Any suggestions would be help full. Any info would be appreciated

Can anyone tell me when they are being released ?....would it be better to buy on line or a store. Do you think we will be able to pre-order ?

If you guys can tell me where to see the various sabers that would be great

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Marcus

Hello There Marcus.

You in the GTA or lower? I liv in Northern Ontario and not too many stores carry MR. However, due to hasbro is seling the FFXs now, you may want to get them locally. The rate of the Canadian dollar and the fact that you don't have to declare them at the store, this may be a better route. Unless you want to go to Buffalo.

As for release or pre-order, The threads'll be popping up here left and right. Keep your ears open and you should do great.

Hi I'm new here also, wondering if the SW-616 Constructor set can be made to use different blades other than the shorter stock blade.  I read through the Grayvin thread quite a bit and there seems to be some speculation but no confirmation.  The main reason I want this feature is for blade replacement options (in case of break), longer length blade, and blade removal (to "wear" lightsaber for show).

Sorry if this is common knowledge by now, I just started researching blades recently.  Planning out my halloween costume for Madison, WI state street party!

Greetings all!  Apologies if I am interrupting, KevanB, this just seemed to be the proper place for rookies like me to post general questions.

My questions are two, please direct me to the proper area/help if you have the time;

1) has anyone seen a completed Wookie Saber?
2) is there any other option for kid sabers other than Ultrasabers' Initiate or the eBay action I just spied today (link below)?

I ask (1) as I've never seen it online and (2) 'cause although I just bought 2 initiates for my nephews (8 and to-be-4), I KNOW this will be their 1.5 reaction.  Of course I will immediately challenge them to use their imaginations first (b-4 my cash)!

Hi Tyvokka, welcome to the forums!

1. To my knowledge, there haven't been may wookiees that have carried the jedi weapon (Well for any length of time).  Traditionally, most wookiees consider them unnatural (even though the use bowcasters and explosives... weird huh?).  Force sensitives are less common among the wookiees, and only a handful have ever shown (and admitted) Force Sensitivity in the amounts required to become a member of the Jedi Order.

The most well known Wookiee Jedi was Lowbacca, Son of Chewbacca.  Lowbacca trained among the acolytes of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker.

George Lucas has in recent years decreed that there shall be no more AUTHORIZED and OFFICIAL Jedi Wookiees in the EU (Or any other official source for that matter).  The reason given was : Wookiees are a part of the living Force. They already live in a harmonious balance with nature, and have only accepted technological weaponry due to enslavement by outside civilizations.

2. Yes and Yes.  Hasbro makes some great sabers for younglings that are wanting their first lightsaber. Sure, they may not have all the bells and whistles that some of the fancier sabers out ther have, but they are a good starting point for around $20, and the sound cards can be used in custom sabers if need be.

There is also the possibility of building them yourself.  Qui-Gon Jinn here on the forums has made quite a few from PVC.

That ebay seller is not one that I am familiar with, but does seem to have some nice hilts available.

However, Ultrasabers DOES provide a high quality, and EXTREMELY durable kids saber in their initiate and apprentice lines.  For the Money, you can't really beat them, and with the customer service provided by my peeps at Ultrasabers, you WILL be taken care of. :)

I hate to correct you,  DT,  but Lowbacca was Chewie's nephew,  his son was Lumpawaroo,  or Lumpy for short....until he reached the age where he could choose his own name,  anyway,  and is now called Lumpacca.

Those pvc hilts I built are about the same cost-wise as buying a completed Ultra Initiate,  if you plan on only building one....the only way to even come close to the value in the initiate is if you do a large number of them like I did,  and that's not very cost effective when you think about it,  unless you plan to sell off a few to help offset the costs.

Thanks Darth Tyranus & GUI-GON_JINN.  Yes, I'd found out something like that about Wookies, which is why it caught my interest.  If I'd read up & figured out how to post w/pictures, I could post a picture or two of wookie saber work-ups I've run across.  From the little I know, it looks like it would be an interesting challenge...

I think at my current expenditure level, I will just wait & see for my nephew's reactions to their Initiate Sabers next month.

Though it would be great to blow their minds with an aluminum hilt and sound....but not for $100 ea...and not at this age! ;D

Greetings!

I just purchased a MR Luke Skywalker ep.IV and a MR Darth Vader ep.IV lightsabers. They're really great, but I'm hesitant to do even a little light duelling with them. Can they take it? I don't leave them on for more than a few mins which will help with the heat issues. Can someone also help me identify if I have a Gen3 or a Gen 4 of the lightsabers? Thanks!

I'm also looking at The Prophecy from ultrasabers. Does this have any sound effects? If it does, I might get this and add some designs of my own, but only if this were durable enough on its own for duelling. I'm looking for a duelling sword with sound effects. It doesn't have to be a Star Wars design. Any basic one as long as it has the sound effects and without much of a premium price tag. If none exists, I might as well getone of the initiates or the Vagabond. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Again, many thanks!

Hello there Zang Lussuria, and welcome to the forum.  8)

When you get a moment, please read over the rules and regulations and then give us your signature here:

http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=10747.0

Now on to your questions:  8)

First off, congratulations on your two purchases.  The Luke and Vader ANH FXs are worthy additions to any collection.   ;)

I definitely would not recommend dueling with any stock MR FX, as the LEDs in the blade can, and will, break.  Keep your MR sabers only for show and for spinning.  ;)

Those two FXs, along with the Yoda ROTS, are actually generation 6 sabers, I believe.  The earlier generation sabers used older technology.

The Prophecy by Ultra Sabers is an excellent saber to get, however, it doesn't have sound.  But since it's a luxeon saber, you CAN freely duel with it.

If you want a saber WITH sound that you can duel with, Ultra Sabers is a great way to go.  You can either purchase a brand new converted MR FX from them, or you can send them one of your FXs and they'll convert it for you.  Basically, they will remove the component blade that's on the stock FX now, and install a hollow blade instead.  Luxeon sabers are powered by a single LED mounted inside the hilt, so they're practically made for dueling - since there are no LEDs in the blade to break.  Plus you'll still have the sound.

Check out the Ultra Sabers website, http://www.ultrasabers.com/, for all the available sabers.  Since you want a saber with sound though, you probably won't find anything really cheap.  That's just the nature of the beast once a sound card enters the picture.  Your best bet would be to send one of your FXs to Ultra for a conversion.  You can send an email to alex@ultrasabers.com if you are interested in that.  Or you can simply buy a whole new saber, which will cost over $200.

There's also the TCSS (The Custom Saber Shop) option, which allows you to purchase parts and build your own saber.  This can get pricey too though, and requires a lot of time.  :)  Plus, it's simply not for everyone.

Please keep us posted on what you do, and let us know if you have any other questions.  :)

Thank you for the response.

How about the Force FX construction kit? The LED is in the base and the blade is removable. Can I use this for duelling?
Title: Re: New to Force FX Lightsabers?
Post by: OBI-WAN KENOBI on August 04, 2008, 06:09:56 PM
I've never owned the MR construction kit (or even seen one in person), but from what I've read they're not really that solid due to all the plastic parts.  I wouldn't use it for hard dueling, but someone who actually has it would be a better judge on that.

There are several reviews of the construction kit here:  http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?board=12.0

You may find your answer there somewhere.

Hey Hey, first post!!!

I got the same as Zang, ep IV Luke and Vader Lightsabers from MR, awesome as they are, they are quite fragile. A couple of clashes with the two left the Vader blade with a flashing LED about 2/3 of the way up. Luckily, like a dodgy neon sign it didn't do this for too long before rectifying itself. My advice to anyone with MR lightsabers is use them for show as Obi Wan said.

The other thing is my Luke lightsaber seems to drain voltage from the battery pack when not in use, so much so I never have the battery pack in it unless putting it on. The Vader one is fine and the batteries stay intact, so I dont think this is an MR fault in general. Does anyone else have this problem?

Great site!!

Hey Bro-Ki, pleased to meet you! :) Welcome to the forums.

If you have a look down the main forum page, you'll see a section that reviews all the fx sabers released to date. This was a great help to me and some of the reviews are so good. Look for any review done by Anakin Skywalker, Emperor Palpatine, Aayla Secura and Kit Fisto to name a few of the many great reviewers who helped me to make the hard decisions!  ;)

Hi everyone!

For now I've just got a short question about where to post some info ;) :
As I'm from Germany, I did a little research on customs duty & turnover tax on imports.
I think the info I found would be interesting for other folks, too, (at least if they want to buy lightsabers and stuff ;D ) but I'm a bit baffled about where to place them.

'Trade Federation - Buy/Sell/Trade' sounds almost perfect, but alas there is no 'General information' sub-section...

Welcome to the forum, Greywolf.  8)

As far as sales, members cannot sell their items on this forum until they have at least 50 posts and 3 months of membership here.  If one doesn't have those yet, however, they can post sales if a long standing member (Admin, Moderator) vouches for them.

You can see all the rules and regulations here:  http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=10747.0

(btw, we'll need your signature there after you read it)  :)

If you're looking to sell your stuff right away, there's always the ebay option.

Best of luck either way.

Thanks for the quick reply, Obi-Wan, but it's more the other way around:
Currently I'm considering buying some lightsabers from ultrasabers, and as it took me quite long to find the information on how much taxes/fees/etc I have to pay when importing stuff, I just wanted to share those links with fellow (lightsaber-addicted) Germans ;)

Believe me, I would love to help fellow lightsaber enthusiasts strengthen their lightsaber addiction  ;D, but I'm afraid I don't know much about the taxes and fees involved with international transactions.

Since you're looking to purchase Ultra sabers, try contacting Ultra at alex@ultrasabers.com.  I'm sure he'll steer you in the right direction, or even give you the answer you need directly.   8)

Thanks, and enjoy the forum.   :)

Thank you for the response.

How about the Force FX construction kit? The LED is in the base and the blade is removable. Can I use this for duelling?

You can 'light duel' with it, but the blade holder is plastic.  THe great thing about them is that they are very easy to convert later, or if you break the blade holder, you can use the sound card in another stunt or TCSS saber.  It is a no lose situation!

I will soon order an UltraSabers "Dominix" and i would like to know how to customize it, i know you can...it's just i don't know how or...what for that matter...

Thanks in Advance  :)

Options for customization are as varied as your imagination.  The Dominix is a PVC hilt with a machined aluminum emitter (I believe) so it is ultimately customizable.  Look through the galleries to get some ideas.  Simple things to do would be to add paint, grip tape, O-rings, rubber grips, sink tube shrouds...etc.

May be you can try to visit your post office website. Sometimes it got the list of Import Duty and tax for importing items using postal service.

Boy oh boy, is there a lot of info on this site or what!

I've just bought the Force FX Lightsaber Construction Kit.

I want to do some modifications and it goes against my collecting sensibilities to take apart a finished one. Also my hope is that it will be a little easier to get into.

My plan is, to cut it down as much as possible to make a very short Shoto Lightsaber or to be knife for a Storm Commando I'm putting together.

I've literally just picked it up and the first thing I'm looking at is how to get the blade off and cut it down and then how to reduce the hilt.

Any advice or warning will be gratefully received, before I break it.

Welcome to the site Minty.  I know nothing of the Force construction kit but there are some threads on here devoted to it.  Not sure how much detailed info on taking them apart but there is info.

You have just entered a new world of SW collecting.  When you get a chance go check out Yoda's new graflex he just unveiled and sold for over $1k.  :o  It's the pinnacle of sabers.

Once again welcome and keep us posted on any mods you make to your saber.  We all love to see the reviews. Good, bad or ugly.  :D

Cheers and thanks for the welcome, I'll go looking for those threads.

I'm just about to put an order in for some AP Stormtrooper Armour and am about to start the Storm Commando (which the shoto is for).

I've already got an E-11 and a cool scratch built RT-97C Heavy Blaster Rifle for the Commando.

I'd love to see pics of your Storm Commando costume progress if you have em.  ;D

Unfortunately my only progress is to order some bits of armour and buy some Star Wars blasters.

I've got the FX construction set, which by the way I've just powered up for the first time and is cool (I'm hooked).

I'm now on ebay looking for another as I hear the standard ones are even better.

Well you've selected one of the best armor sets with AP.  I researched armor for about a month and I came up with AP for us US customers.  Troopermaster I think is still better if you live in the UK but a bit $$$ for us in the US.

Check out IMA for deactivated british sterlings.  I got one last winter and a pipe at metalonline to weld it all back together.  There is a Dr. in south america on WhiteArmor.net that sold me a hengstler counter and I scored a vintage tank scope on Ebay they pop up now and then.

Def post some pics when you get things done on your blaster and armor.  We need a little variety on the site here.

Preference is to hang them upright. A few places sell vertical wall stands.

If you insist on leaving them sideways, make sure to turn them often, but better yet, fabricate a support for the end of the blade, .....long screw, plastic parts, ...anything to support the tip, or near the tip of the blade.

welcome to the forums!

the aotc ani saber is the first gen of the fx saber line-  which the blade was an EL, not a LED one like you see out there now. it has many issue with the electronics but were worked in the later model sent out that same year it was released. the entire saber with blade was about the same as the ROTS ani saber but from what i can see, the hilt maybe be a little bigger on the AOTC one.

The hasbro fx saber are slowly coming out and people are putting reviews on the forums about them and it seems the only one that has a difference as of right now is the Obi wan ROTS which changed to AAA batteries from AA's and smaller in width of the saber. No one (as in MR or Hasbro) made a Obi wan TPM fx saber. This saber has been replicated by shops here on the forums many times and they all look amazing.

Most of this ish can be found by searching through the forums or using the search feature on the top of the page but GL and enjoy your stay!

I used to have a force fox, it broke, so it was gutted, and the sound board, fried...

Actually, the Anakin AOTC FX is the longest MR saber from pommel to blade tip.  It's about 3 or 4 inches longer than all the other FXs.  Also, the hilt of the AOTC FX is enormous, bigger than any other FX hilt by far.

Still, despite its extremely large size, the hilt is very well-made and solid.  It's also a cool saber to have for collection purposes - I've got two myself.

It should be. They are the same material and have the same guts. All his e-series stuff is durable.

I'm new to collecting FX Lightsabers but already am the proud owner of 12 -- and I'm searching for more. What I'd really like to find is a complete Master Replicas list that shows each and every little difference each FX lightsaber came out with. I've read where some parts are plastic on one but metal on another, or it was brass instead of gold plated, or it was lighter than the original. Stuff like that. Any ideas?

Best Regards,
Master Hab-Icom and Padawan
