Need Some advice on my MkVI v2.
« on: September 19, 2018, 04:03:45 PM »
I managed to score a Mk VI for only $325 on eBay with Crystal Shard sound and GGW LED. It's a solid build and it's loud. There is only one probkem, the run time is very short like 30 mins short. I had to recharge it during my last convention.

I'm thinking the battery might need replaced. Any suggestions?

It depends on what kind of battery was in there (and more importantly the mAh rating on it. It also depends on how old the saber itself is. I’ll mention it to the General if I see him floating around this part of the Galaxy

I find your arguments vague and unconvincing.

Thank you.

Its a 7.4v with 2000 MaH and I use a tcss charger. It's marked 18 when I unscrew the emitter. I'm not sure how old it is.

Here she is. I'm using a photon blade in the solo pic and a clear one with thr Vader. Both use a tri Cree and Vader over powers the v2. I think it might be the 7/8 blade and the think neck being the culprits. Others wise it's an amazing piece of work.

That doesn’t sound correct, as the CS’s only work with 3.7V batteries, as I recall.

The battery is labeled 7.4 and my 3.7 charger does nothing as far as charging the saber. The light does not respond.

For your 7.4 volt battery, you should get a 7.4 li-ion charger. Could also be that the battery is bad, and should be exchanged. You are Vader45 over at the rpf, right?

I have another question before I go taking the saber apart again. I noticed the batteries at tcss have a clip. Are LDMs batteries use the same clip or are the wires directly soldered on? If it's the clip style I can swap out the battery easy, if not I would need someone to do it.

Thanks.

Well then this is what I get for taking the thing apart and looking at it. A wire came lose from the board and when I try to reconnect it all it does is make a high pitched whine. Its the wire the goes to the board and the recharge port.

I noticed the board is labeled Petite Crouton Plector Labs 2012.

Im going to contact LMD to see if he will repair it. This is why I do not work on wires or electronics!

UGH! I just wasted 20 bucks to have someone re soldier the xxx wires back on, the saber does absolutely nothing, battery charges but then nothin when I unplug it, no boot sound or anything. I am so sick to my stomache right now, I just want this saber to work again. I did not buy a static piece. I really hope LDM gets back to me.

Hey man, sorry for the late notice.  Your email must have gone to SPAM.  PLease re-send to: ldm.tcss_services@yahoo.com and I will help you out.  Some early MKVI's had Petit Crouton soundboards in them and they would have had 7.4v packs.  Run time would depend on settings, but it could be that the saber is old enough that the battery pack is going.

I read somewhere that its important to solder with out the sd card in. I think that is my problem. I'm going to buy a new card from tcss to see if thats my current issue.
