How do you or would you carry your lightsaber?
« on: December 12, 2013, 07:44:15 AM »
I believe in the traditional ways of its carriage, but I have adapted my style to allow quick deployment with less movement depending on the mission I've been assigned too.

1.) Right mid thigh setup... Think of Jango Fetts side holstered blaster for easy imaging.

- Holster style resembling a clamp / cuff that provides good retention and easy snap off access.  No covertec or D-Ring required, but those types of parts are still on my sabers just multiple carrying options for me.

It would be most interesting to hear how all you Jedi and Sith carry and deploy your magnificent sabers...  Remember, this is just fantasy wishful thinking...

my only finished saber is my RKRR, but i dont have a quiver like Kota and the saber does not have a covertec wheel or d-ring.... so it either lies in the stand or is carried in my hand :D

in general i guess i'd prefer it on my right sie of the hip....

covertec on belt is a classic but i dont trust it not to fly off when i run.
holster could work for certain but not all designs.
magnetic half holster would own assuming there is velvet or leather to prevent scratching. also assuming the magnets dont kriff up the electrinics.
for saberstaff i would have 2 covertec clipps on a thigh harness like for a holster. the release levers would be connected so you can trigger both at once.

I'm a big fan of the covertec... although I've modified my clip for quick release sans button push. left side slightly front with the covertec on the saber 180 degrees from the activation button
Han Solo describes saber building perfectly: "NO! This one goes here, that one goes there"

Normally for PT sabers with Covertec wheels I prefer on the left side of the Jedi belt as commonly seen BUT at the hip for strong side speed draw since I'm left handed NOT ahead of the hip for crossdraw that most right handed Jedi/Sith seemed to prefer in the PT era...I have always distrusted crossdraw from basic handgun retention training and even with a not real 'weapon' like our 'fancy flashlights with sound' I'd prefer to follow as realistic weapon handling practices as possible for consistency with IRL muscle memory.

For OT or ancient sabers with D-rings I prefer slightly BEHIND the left hip...not just because I hate crossdraw but with D-ring sabers flopping around there is even more reason for my saber not to be ahead of the hip bone [run with a d-ring saber in front and you'll soon regret it if you are male ;) LOL]

Now as for where I might carry my back up [shoto]...well again for 'realism' that would be best left a 'surprise' eh? hehe

To DREAM the IMPOSSIBLE DREAM. To FIGHT the unbeatable foe. To BEAR with unbearable sorrow. To RUN where the brave dare not go. To RIGHT the unrightable wrong. To LOVE, PURE AND CHASTE, FROM AFAR [-sigh-]. To TRY, when your arms are too weary; to REACH the unreachable Star!... This is my Quest; To follow that Star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far...

Thats how I do  8)

Haha... Well, it's a fool's errand, boy. The Emperor's army is infinite. You'll eventually be killed... or worse... and nothing will have changed.

If one is wearing an armoured codpiece that forward one might be tolerable...without protection...well, graflex type 'bunny ears' hitting in the...wrong place...can hurt... ;)

Similarly if one doesn't have spinal armour you wouldn't want a hard weapon especially a floppy one in the exact center rear in case you fell backwards...IRL small of the back holsters are not popular except when extreme concealment is required for that same reason.
