Title: CS equipped MR Yoda
Post by: CHEWBACCA on April 26, 2012, 08:39:37 PM
OK here is the saber I have been beta testing the CS in.  This has been a really fun saber and has been my main play saber since I built it.

It is very similar to the last Yoda I did and have missed since I sold it last year.

Specs

MR Yoda turned down slightly (just to get some of the scratches out of it)
lightly polished though I have not re-polished it since I built it so it is showing some wear.
custom pommel form a Joe Jedi saber (machined down)
custom switch band
TCSS switch box
TCSS blade holder
I powder coated the black pieces in textured black.
Single 18650 battery
CS 1.0
Rebel GGR LED with the GG in parallel pulling about 700mA each dice R for FoC

That's about it.  I am too tired to take pics so I will do that tomorrow BUT for now just enjoy the video.

&feature=youtu.be  (will be live soon if not already when you see this).

Here are the photos finally.  Click them for the larger images.

Its a little scratched up here and there (and my son dropped it and dented the pommel in one spot) but it is a play saber and used quite a bit over the last couple of months.

This Yoda conversion is AWESOME!  Love the different take on it with the polished hilt and control box. The Crystal Shard is great in here with the cool looking dramatic FoC 8)

Oh and Shoto sounds amazing in this saber! Great work MH :)

Great review MH. That little board sounds great, very responsive and opens up so many possibilities for a tiny hilt, like a Korbanth Mace or Obi. Plus I'm realy liking that little Yoda hilt! I was never that much into them but this one looks and sounds terriffic!

this thing is awesome. very unique take on a yoda, but it works great.

how much do you think a cs install will run?  would also be a cool board to use for a saber staff with a PC/CF in one and the CS in the other side.

First post updated with pics now.

Sorry I missed this somehow.

I haven't set a price yet but I would say between an MR install (with the installer supplying the board) and a PC install.

MH that is an awesome Yoda.  I've always been a fan of your Yoda's. The CS is just icing on the cake.

So is the GGR Rebel brighter and more evenly lit than a similarly set up 10W LED?

much brighter yes especially when you consider the voltage and current used but there is a little flair at the bottom.  I like it that way though and am not a huge fan of the perfectly even blade everyone always asks for.  That being said its not that much of a flair.

I have a video somewhere that compares the GGR rebel, GGW cree and RGGB LEDengin.  The cree I believe I had in series running off of 1A (7.4V).  The RGGB was parallel at 2A (7.4V) and the GGR rebel was running in parallel on 3.7V direct drive (off of CS).  The current I was getting when I checked it with the meter was about 1.4A (so 700mA each dice).

The Rebel was the lowest voltage and least current and was brighter than the other two (just slightly brighter than the cree) but both the cree and rebel pretty much just washed the RGGB out.  I have been told though that some of the RGGBs just didn't have very bright G dice though so maybe that was an issue.  I have not compared it to a GGGG.

Hmm, very interesting, I might have to get a GGR tri-rebel for CS-31 when I send it to you then.  ;D
