MKVI Series II Hero CF 6.5 review!
« on: October 19, 2013, 06:50:02 AM »
REVIEW of my LDM MKVI Series II Hero CF 6.5 saber

Specs:
MKVI Hilt #11, Production Run #2
Tri-CREE GGR (GG blade, R (yellow) FoC)
CFv6 (Stock fonts + Madcow's Hero replaces Phoenix Sword)
7.4V Li-ion w/2.1mm recharge/kill in pommel
LDM 26mm HO Speaker in MKVI-Specific Machined ResonanceTM
Touchplate ActivationTMwith Copper Card

Review:

As you can see on the pictures, this saber definitely deserves the golden background  8)
The LDM MKVI Series II Hero saber is THE Luke ROTJ Hero saber. I have seen a lot of Hero or V2 iterations over time, but holding a MKVI in your own hands
is totally different! This saber feels just right in your hand. The details, the diameter, the weight and its balance, every single detail is well planned and
perfectly executed! Using real copper parts all over the saber ( box topping, copper activation card and real copper neck ) is the icing on the cake!
In a word PERFECT! Due to the limitations of the emitter, this saber holds a 7/8" blade, which goes perfect with the sleek design of it!
Mine has a GGY tri Rebel as I always envisioned this saber to fight against red sith blades ( green + red = yellow ;) )
Sound quality and loudness is outstanding. To be true, I had to copy the Hero sound bank to another one and lowered the volume parameter from 4 to 3 because my wife
got freaked every time I fired her up  ;D
BTW sd card access to change the sound fonts is easy as pie! You just unscrew the pommel of the saber ( hold the pommel insert which is free spinning ) pull out the electronics
package ( batteries, soundboard ) and access the sd card. And if you have changed your soundfonts and settings, simply push the card back into the board, push the electronics
back into the hilt, screw on your pommel and voilá :) I also think that GG always has in mind that parts may break down over time ( LED, batteries ) and therefore designs his electronics to be accessible and changeable easily!

Again, thank you GG for such a perfect product and all of your time and effort that went into it!!!

As some of you asked me what kind of polish I have used for that shiny look :) it is an australian liquid metal polish which works wonders on every metal! I've used it for brass, copper, aluminum already and the results are always outstanding. ( the links is posted below )

I also think that GG always has in mind that parts may break down over time ( LED, batteries ) and therefore designs his electronics to be accessible and changeable easily!

Nailed it.  I build modular electronics on nearly everything now.  Surprisingly enough, the ready-made electronics modules that I made for folks a year or so back radically changed my view on how to accomplish the production of durable and serviceable sabers.  So far, it has been wonderful.

The Review was also wonderful and I am honored that you are so very happy with it.

freaking blinding!!! Excellent review. May I ask where you acquired that stand? I rather like how it makes the saber look, and I would love something similar for my V2!

Got it from YODA with one of my Graflexs. You could PM him if he has one left!

Given your collection, DJK, I am surprised you don't own one yet! Seems like a MKVI Hero would fit perfectly in your collection :) Wow really is the way to describe these... they are unbelievable.

I am currently working on the last 3 of the units currently listed on my log.  I will have 2 left after that which means...auction time. ^-^

I'm always a sucker for some good looking hilts but right now my pocketbook tells me to "lay low" for a bit. LOL! I have the JQ Luke ROTJ and that's a nice one too so I'm ok watching this one from a distance at this time.  :D
