can anyone recommend a good adhesive for the copper part on the control box?  *looks at jango*  my thumb keeps knocking it free and that is a scratch waiting to happen.  I don't want it to never come off if I need it too, but it also can't be very thin consistancy so that it drips down the side of the control box.

lol, that won't work unless I overflow into the inside of the control box.  and I don't want to rough up the copper part on the control box.  but I don't think you are talking about the same piece as me.  the control box has an aluminum piece, another aluminum piece that the leds attach too, a copper part that goes on top of that, and an activation card that fits in the copper part.  that is what I need to glue.

GorrilaGlue Super Glue.
It's not a permanent bond, but it will last through use.

*How to.
Leave Circuit card out.
Make sure both surfaces are clean.
Set saber on a level surface that will allow for cure time.
Poor some GGSG out on a throwaway surface.
Using a toothpick, spread a small amount on the top ledge of the box.
Place the copper top on, and line it up.
Tape down with some blue painters tape and set aside for curing.

thanks jango, I'll go get the gorrila super glue out of my drawer in my workbench and let it sit overnight.

edit: applied the glue.  lets see how well it works.  not sure what the painter's tape is gonna do.  the box is a really tight fit to begin with.

Man, that is SHINY!  I love it.  I may need to consult you on your polishing prowess later. Lol.

I use a polish called "blue magic" it is a bit runnier than toothpaste, comes in a tube, works on copper, aluminum, stainless, brass, etc.  And it is not bad for powdercoating.  Now, I avoid getting it on the powdercoating anyway, but it's nice to know it won't strip it off.  All I do is apply it to the saber with a rag, then start wiping it off until it's gone.  I use a whole rag to polish the saber once.  both sides of the rag.

Anyone know where I can get another triangle d-ring and how to install it without scratching it?  I screwed up because the cloth I put between my pliers and the d-ring wasn't thick enough.

I have heard the warnings about dueling with this saber and I can't see how you could hit a 7/8" thinwalled blade hard enough that the blade won't snap but the copper neck will.  I won't be dueling with it myself, but the copper is thick.  IMO, there is no way you could snap the neck without cutting yourself on the sharp edges of this saber and breaking the blade.  But don't take this as an  "oh, he said I can duel with my mkvi."  cause I didn't say that.

The copper neck is the reason you cannot duel with it.
Parts that could break, the neck itself, or hitting it hard enough to strip the threads.
In either case, you would need a new neck piece. There are a couple of things to consider,

Wat may have an extra one, so you send a PM asking for a replacement. Since copper is one of the most expensive materials to order, I would guess it would be pricey. *throws dart at board* say 50.00+/- per piece? totally guessing :-\
Perhaps Wat does not have any and we know he is a busy guy, so for your one off part may be on a 3 month back log, plus cost.

To me it would not be worth it. Your mileage may vary.

/you could always make a duel-able version out of MHS.

yeah, just throwing it out there that you would have to duel with this saber pretty hard to strip it.  Harder than anyone should want to anyway (unless they have an aluminum neck...hmm...).

The triangle d-ring though, anyone know of a replacement?  and a better method of attachment?  I screwed up.

oh come on.  It isn't that hard of a question.  the cloth I used to protect the d-ring wasn't as thick as I thought.

And it was my first d-ring uninstall/reinstall (don't ask why, because I wish I didn't now).  Just like I made a ton of mistakes on my first saber, I made one mistake on something I've never done before.  but I did plenty of new things right this time.

Did you PM Wat?  Also, you might try theRPF; they'll know exactly what was on the real prop.

The first thing I noticed was how small it was.  It's something you never really understand until you hold it; screen accurate and tiny!  So much better than a MR, lol.
