MR Helmet update (pricing!)

$99 for a Stormtrooper helmet?  I'm there.   That Boba Fett helmet looks mighty nice too, but I can't imagine spending that much on one.

i'm not a boba fett fan... so I wouldn't get the helmet. Now... if only they'd lower the price for the Vader helmet. A CE version perhaps?? :)

It would be cool if they made a plastic ROTS helmet (vacuuformed) for the CE.  That Stormtrooper CE is a heck of a deal if its accurate.  I wonder if it'll be cast off a hero or stunt?

IIRC, the CE version is an "idealized" symmetrical version of the Stormie helmet that is neither cast of a hero nor a stunt.

But I'm no expert, I sit and stare at the pictures on starwarshelmets.com and can hardly ever find any difference between all the different versions.

on the MR blog they had a Q&A thing going for a while and one of the questions I remember was "..why can't MR make the FX sabers and the helmets cheaper for us to buy?"

the simple answer was :
'..because MR is only liscenced to create collectibles and prop replicas ; NOT toys or costumes.
MR can't introduce products at the same price-point as hasbro and Rubies,
because MR is not liscenced to compete with Hasbro and Rubies.   MR products are expensive, for a reason'

==> somehow, I doubt that the price of those CE's will be only $99.    *shrug*
( something tells me thats supposed to read "$199" (?)

---------

p.s: the picture they used is not a MR product, btw.   from the discussion in the link above,
it seems to be an unliscenced replica from a company that got a 'cease and decist' order from Lucas and was forced to stop making their "TK" helmet.

"The Star Wars story is really the tragedy of Darth Vader. That is the story.
Once Vader dies, he doesn't come back to life, the Emperor doesn't get cloned, and Luke doesn't get married..."

I thought I read that the Stormtrooper CE and LE were going to be asymetrical and the EE was going to be symmetrical.  Pretty sure thats how its going to be.  I'll try to find it later, I'm at work right now.

I don't think anything in the OT was symmetrical. :D  There were several different stormtrooper helmets.  Go check out STARWARSHELMETS.com.  That'll tell you everything you need to know about any helmet. ;)  SDS(Shepperton Design Studios) made the original helmets for the movies, I believe.

In the OT DVD they talked about how the OT vader mask wasn't symetrical, so they were working on making the ROTS one symetrical.

Ya, the OT Vader helmet wasn't symetrical, so the other OT ones probably weren't either.
