Graflex grip glue
« on: July 30, 2008, 08:03:12 PM »
Hey,
What is the best adhesive to use for rubber grips on a graflex.
The grips I got have 3M tape - but I want something better.

Advice?

I'm a big fan of JB Weld. I use it for almost every thing I want permanently bonded. They have a six minute adhesive, and a six hour adhesive.

Try Transparent Outdoor Vinyl Banner Tape for a stronger yet non surface damaging bond ;)
I believe the name is Bron Tapes 8)

Thanks guys,
Any ideas on where to get such things?
I've heard of JB weld before, but not the tape you mentioned Yoda... online suppliers - a banner making outlet?

Thats funny, I just picked that up at lowes on sunday. It smells too much like dupont cement though.

Over the past couple of months, I've been using a quick-set 2 part epoxy to bond grips to metal.  I do one grip at a time, and only apply it once the epoxy has begun to stiffen just a bit (helps to keep the grip from shifting too much).  I clean any excess with a cotton swab soaked in alcohol, and it works well for me.
