A couple questions about the Driver/Dimmer board
« on: December 06, 2007, 09:10:12 PM »
I'm thinking about adding driver/dimmer boards to a couple of Force FX conversions that i'm doing but I had a few questions.

First, some places on the PlectorLabs sight say that it outputs 1 or 1.5 amps and others say 750ma or 1 amp.  Which is correct?

Second, can it be used with the standard MR battery pack, or do I need to replace it?

Finally, Alot of people have been recommending the Seoul P4 over a Luxeon for a white LED.  I think I read where someone had used one on this board, but the forum search function hates me.  Can a P4 be used with the board?

Thanks.

Erv can correct me if I am wrong but I believe that the dimmer/driver can handle the full 1.5A since they had been updated. I'm not 100% sure on that though, so I would offer the advice of dropping Erv a PM or email to inquire to the man himself.

Erv has never refused to answer a question! ;)

As far as I know, using a Seoul P4 should be fine, as it has nearly the same voltage and current requirements as a Lux III.

P.S.

The forum search function hates us all at times ;) Sometimes "agressive negotiations" of your search parameters must be used unfortunately... :o

Yes the p4 white has the same spects of a luxIII white but it spanks the luxIII in lumin output.

The driver dimmer board will supply the needed voltage and current to the led. Its like my corbin driver but ervs I think is smaller than corbins.

It was tobu I think that did the mace conversion with the p4 and driver dimmer board.

Yeah, you might PM Tobu for some specifics on that setup. Alias is correct on that front ;)

sorry for not being here enough,
the documentation might be a little bit outdated for the lux driver,
the new firmware handles 1 and 1.5A.
