Ground for neopix?
« on: February 04, 2020, 10:22:44 AM »
I don't use the pogo pin systems for my neopixel blades (my blades are static, I use them like bokkens), and I'm aware that running the ground wires from the blade to the 4 channel pads is recommended so that deep sleep can be enabled.

Is there any issue with running the negative wire to the main ground where my switches are connected besides losing this feature? What are my other options?

Thanks!

Np doing so. No deep sleep indeed and you'll need a kill key or a master power switch to cut power but that's it.

Yeah, the main advantage of deep sleep is builds that don't use a recharge port or kill switch to kill power drain from the battery.  LED strips draw current even when off so a fully charged battery with no way to kill power to the strips would eventually drain the battery.
