No Power from CF 8
« on: July 13, 2016, 07:57:30 PM »
Hey guys,

Trying to see if someone can help me out with my CF8.

I wired up the recharge port and the speaker and wanted to test the board before I proceeded. Inserted the SD card and pulled the kill key but did not get a boot sound. Rechecked wiring, charged battery and nothing. Tested different speaker and battery still nothing. Figured maybe I had to have a main switch wired, wired it, and tried turning board, yet again nothing.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Please

Check the voltage on the board at the 3.3V pad and see if you are getting voltage there.  Check your speaker, check for shorts etc.

Shoot a good clear high rez pic and post it here for us to look it over.

Added 2 pics hopefully these are good. If not let me know I'll take some more.

I will test the 3.3v pad later today when I get home.

Thank you.

soldering job looks great and I do not see any shorts.  Did you make any changes to the SD card at all?  Have you checked the SD card to make sure it has the correct files on it?

Let us know what the 3.3V pad reads when you get to it and double check your speaker.

Didn't make any changes to the SD card, I did insert it into my computer after the board didn't boot to check all files were there.

Just checked the 3.3v pad and it is receiving power.

Did you check your speaker?  If its getting 3.3 it is probably booting and the sound may not be working because of a bad or shorted speaker.  The default set up has the main LED turned off so you would have to hit it to see if its working (if no sound) or you can change the color profile to have the main LED on.

If you have a known good speaker and its still not working you will need to contact me (assuming US) for repair.
