Rice Port on Prizm [Solved]
« on: December 02, 2014, 09:25:56 PM »
Hello,

I recently wired up a Prizm 3.5 and everything is fully functional except the rice port. When i connect the serial cable to a computer it finds it and says com15. But then when i open the rice program it finds the com15 but will not connect to it and will not allow me to make any adjustment to the blade. hopefully this is clear if not will try to explain in other terms.

thank you

If you have installed the drivers and followed all steps as outlined on videos (Erv and Madcow) and manual for connection, and still are getting nothing, I'd try swapping the Tx and Rx wires

Installed it per what the manual said and installed the drivers. Do you happen to have a link to the videos so I can see if I wired everything correctly? If nothing else then I guess I will flip the wires see if that works.

as X suggested, not all RICE ports are the same, so following the manual's indication of RX and TX may not be correct for your model of port.  The easiest thing you can try is to swap your rice port wires at the board.  I had to do this once because I figured my rice port would be pinned the same as the one in the manual. I was wrong  ^-^

you also have the HELP button in RICE that details the operation of the app. You always need to click / select the port even if the one displayed is the right one.

here's a video from Genesis Custom Saber showing the PC 3.5 RICE operation

Truly sorry to never have responded. Wife gave birth sooner than expected so had no to time to figure this out. I recently got back to working on this and apparently I did not download the right drivers for the rice port. Got everything up and running. Greatly appreciate it the assistance.
