Fix for dislodged contact pad on CF
« on: April 08, 2013, 03:51:29 PM »
I had a previous issue with a dislodged contact pad on my CFv6 board (one of the R.I.C.E. contacts), the pad came off during desolding, leaving only a tiny bit of trace.

I was advised to use a thin piece of bare wire from a resistor to repair it. The repair worked and the solder held, but it is a weak connection and is prone to coming undone. I was wondering if, after reattaching it, I can use a dot of hot glue as added support. Or if there is any other kind of adhesive which can lend vibration support to this weak joint (I've read about neutral cure silicone rubber).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Agreed, hot glue works great for this. I've used small amounts of 100% silicone in the past also, just make sure it is the pure type and doesn't have any conductive elements in it. ASI 388 works, but for our purposes hot glue is simple, cheap, and effective.
