Howdy saberland.

Some of you might remember this saber, it's the ANH Obi thin neck that I built as my very first light up saber. Well, as I wrapped up my Obi Epic Reveal saber, I realized I didn't need TWO obi ANH sabers, so I floated the idea around about selling my first one, and Cordaroyfog was kind enough to give this one a good home.
Unfortunately, when I brought it down out of its loft in the slothcave, I realized it was, well, not great. I couldn't very well sell this thing to anyone and feel confident enough to put my name on it.
So with Lee's patience and a steadfast determination to provide an excellent product, I set out to completely rebuild the saber. From stem to stern, every piece has gotten an update.
Original specs:
84 Makoto V2 LED string
MR Yoda board
4x AAA NiMH Battery pack
TCSS Speaker
Russrep grenade, windvane, emitter
Parks booster & clamp
Romans Pommel
Rebelscum bubblestrip
Recharge port hidden under rear transistor greeble
Lee's Video showing operation in lit room vs. dark room and iSaber, pommel SD access...
http://youtu.be/oYvyiJKB_4A
New Specs:
84 High output blue outdoor sign LEDs wired seriallel
Plecter Labs CF-LS
2x 14650 Li-Ion pack
R.I.C.E. port hidden under forward transistor greeble, with custom machined transistor port plug
Recharge port hidden under rear transistor greeble, with TCSS small killkey
SD Card access through custom machined rear tailcap
TCSS Speaker
Russrep grenade, windvane, emitter
Parks booster & clamp
Romans Pommel
Rebelscum bubblestrip
Custom machined internal frame
Weeks and weeks and weeks of thought, design, machining, testing and assembly.
I have a special magnetic wallmount stand planned for it, but will complete it after this. He also gets all the design sketches.
I want to say a special thank you to Erv' at Plecter Labs for such a wonderful product, and supporting me and others in this hobby with the absolute best board available, period.

Absolutely fantastic saber! Gotta love the screen accurate thin choke(neck) on these. I bought an LDM Obi(weathered) from a nice guy in FL recently and he is shipping it today. I'm totally psyched about it. Enjoy that saber! It's awesome! ;D

Fantastic job Slothfurnace. Do you think you will ever do an obi ROTS lightsaber?

Fantastic job Slothfurnace. Do you think you will ever do an obi ROTS lightsaber?
No, I can't say I will ever do one of those. I much prefer the MR As First Built By style.
The ROTS Obi and Anakin should have been pristine versions of the ANH sabers, not new lucasfilm copywritable designs that have no visual place in the pedigree of the ANH sabers.
Meaning, there's no mechanical way the ROTS Obi would have evolved to the ANH obi. The shapes are just too different. Same with the ANH Luke vs the ROTS Anakin. I just don't think it's believable that they're the same sabers, and as such, I choose not to touch them. Call me picky, but it's one of the more frustrating things about the prequel trilogy.

We've never talked about that but I feel exactly the same way. They're abominations that make me want to uppercut whoever made the decisions to OK those props, and a swift sack kick for the prop maker for even proposing them.

From what I've been told, they were redesigned so that they could copywrite the design. Because they couldn't copywrite the individual pieces they were made from in the original trilogy.
Makes enough sense to me, but still unfortunate.

I guess that DOES make some sense... but there was probably a way to get them much closer with miniscule changes and still keep it 98-99% accurate. Oh well... I'm with you, I don't like them, but to each his own. ^_^

Oh yeah, Lee, make sure you save the box in case you ever need to ship it back for any work needed.
I provide a limited lifetime warranty. If I die, your warranty expires.
-
Added this to first post, but this is Lee's video showing operation in lit vs. dark room, iSaber with Back in Black, and pommelcap SD access.
-
Truly amazing!
-
DAng that is one epic saber.
-
I can say with assurance that this, in my opinion, is the most epic saber I've ever seen. :o

Loven that rock and roll style!! ;)
Very beautiful saber.

Thank you very much! It's the precursor to this one...

And since I built the reveal version, I didn't need the non-reveal version.
Fog, so glad you like it!
